HVAC Chiller Service Technician - Traveling
About Us:

Specializing in the optimization of complex building systems, our team's diversified skill set provides value to our clients from the design stages of new construction all the way through operating existing buildings. Our consulting group provides a full array of commissioning services for both new and existing buildings, and our technical services group provides start-up services on complex HVAC equipment from a wide range of manufacturers.
Summary:
The HVAC Chiller Service Technician - Traveling is a remote based opportunity that will specialize primarily in the start-up, troubleshooting, and commissioning for a variety of chiller technologies. Most commonly, these chillers will be serving the Data Center sector. Secondarily, this technician will also work on other HVAC equipment, such as air handlers, custom DX equipment, and packaged rooftop systems. The candidate must be able to independently troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, be dependable, and have good customer service skills. This role would serve our customers across the nation, requiring approximately 80% travel.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform equipment start-up and commissioning of newly installed HVAC systems, including verifying proper operation and settings.
  • Diagnose and repair HVAC equipment issues such as electrical faults, refrigerant leaks, or airflow imbalances.
  • Verify that control systems and safety devices are functioning correctly.
  • Work with project managers and installation teams to resolve post-installation issues quickly and effectively.
  • Document all service and maintenance work performed, including test results, parts used, and system adjustments.
  • Provide clear communication to customers about system performance, recommended improvements, and service needs.
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards, codes, and company procedures.
  • Participate in training to stay current with HVAC technologies, diagnostic tools, and energy efficiency practices.

Requirements:
  • 4+ years of solo field experience with commercial heating and air conditioning--specifically focused on chiller equipment. (Journeyman)
  • 2+ years of experience with chiller start-ups.
  • Advanced understanding of wiring schematics and controls
  • Must have knowledge of commercial air-conditioning, heating, water source heat pumps & rooftop packaged HVAC systems.
  • Ability to travel independently to jobsites as needed, booking own travel as needed.
  • Advanced knowledge of the refrigeration cycle
  • EPA certification
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.

Estimated Salary: $60/hourly - $80/hourly, based on experience and skills. Veritas offers a comprehensive benefits package and reimburses business travel expenses in accordance with company policy.
