An Hourly 8 Hour RN is a Registered Nurse who works scheduled shifts of 8 hours each, typically on a part-time or full-time hourly wage basis rather than salary. The 8-hour shift structure is common in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings, and may include day, evening, or night shifts depending on staffing needs.

Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), patient monitoring devices, and hospital information systems is typically required. Strong organizational skills, teamwork, and effective communication help you excel in shift-based nursing environments. These abilities ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality care during each shift, supporting both patient outcomes and workflow continuity.

What are some common challenges faced by hourly 8 hour RNs, and how can they effectively manage their workload during a typical shift?
