Job description

The Avid an IHG Hotel Kalamazoo in KalamazooMI is looking for a hardworking, detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to join our team. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, motivated, and highly productive.

Responsibilities
  • Effectively and professionally communicates with departments and GM
  • Follows company policies and procedures
  • Ensures all fire and safety inspections are completed and any discrepancies are corrected
  • Administers the preventative and repair maintenance program for guestrooms and public space, properly completing work orders on time
  • Prepares for periodic, walk through/visual inspections of all property assets to determine condition, establish maintenance priorities and highlight need for improvement areas
  • Records and reports completed repairs and items that need further attention
  • Adheres to all local, state, federal laws and safety regulations
  • Completes training regarding safety, security, department procedures and service guidelines
  • Informs management of hazardous situations, emergencies or threats to the safety and security of hotel guests, staff and assets
  • Ensures the security of all inventory, including but not limited to, tools, supplies, equipment, furniture, and televisions
  • Replenishes supplies and inventory efficiently to minimize waste
  • Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress
  • Meets with vendors and suppliers to discuss scope of, and products and materials used in, repair activities.
  • Observe and ensure 3rd party technicians work per the needs of the hotel and engage to learn through them for equipment needs
  • Obtains pricing and bids as directed
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management
Required Skills
  • Hotel Maintenance: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Maintenance: 2 years (Required)
Demonstrated general mechanical skills are necessary. Basic repair, painting, wall covering HVAC, electrical work, plumbing, boiler operation, pool maintenance and general maintenance skills required. Must have valid drivers license, and acceptable driving history subject to company approval.
Ability to use hands to lift, carry, or pull objects that may be heavy
