Job description

ASH Hotels designs, develops, owns and operates a very special collection of properties. In our world, a hotel is much more than a destination to meet, dine, or sleep. Rather, it is a dynamic site of imagery and emotions, interactions and sensations manifesting within the walls of a beautifully restored local legend - a living movie set. An ASH hotel is a connection to the past and a beacon for the future, layered in nuanced storytelling that invites exploration time and again.
The historic Hotel Sorrento is a cultural anchor in Seattle. From the fireside salons filled with local legends, to a spirit sighting, or the rooftop views of a growing city, the Sorrento has always been where Seattle gathers to celebrate and connect; a landmark with decades of stories, well cared-for guests, and deep roots in the neighborhood it calls home. Steps from downtown Seattle, the hotel enjoys one of the city's most enviable settings: walkable to Pike Place Market, the waterfront, the convention center, and the region's best dining, all while retaining the quiet charm of a tree-lined enclave.
Purpose of Position
To ensure the highest standards of the guest experience are met. To ensure the property is maintained in a safe and secure manner overnight, and to complete all end-of-day responsibilities in an accurate and timely manner.
Position Mission/Overview
Complete the night audit procedures in a thorough and timely manner in order to accurately report the sales and operating statistics for each day. The Night Auditor will assist other members of the Front Office Team with the performance of all front office duties and will contribute to the overall guest experience in the same ways that Guest Services Agents do on a daily basis.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
  • This is an overnight position. You must be able to work the hours of or around 11PM - 7AM, and available weekdays, holidays and weekends based on the hotels occupancy and business needs.
  • As an important member of the Hotel Sorrento welcome team, you will extend a warm welcome and a fond farewell to all arriving and departing guests.
  • Assist guests with the check-in process upon arrival, confirm reservation/billing details and contact information, and ensure that all requests and addons have been fulfilled per hotel SOP.
  • Park and retrieve guest vehicles, help guests with their luggage, and accompany guests to their rooms to show key features of the rooms when necessary to support the Valet team.
  • Assist guests with delivery of hotel items and amenities to their rooms upon request and prior to arrival when appropriate. Ensure that all guest requests are handled in a timely, efficient, and appropriate manner.
  • Assist guests with checkout at their departure time, including the settling of their bill, ensuring their satisfaction with their experience, and encouraging a return visit per hotel SOP.
  • Perform all End-of-Day functions, including reviewing and reconciling of all Front Desk postings, all outlet tickets, all restaurant and banquet postings, and rolling over the accounting software, PMS and batching credit card transactions. Ensure that all reports and account journals are balanced.
  • Run and audit all relevant hotel and restaurant reports for accuracy and reconciliation. Compile all sales and settlement data and enter them into accounting software. Complete the daily flash report and distribute it to appropriate personnel.
  • Prepare reports for all arriving and departing guests and audit those reservations/folios for accuracy, noting any special requests or purchased addons, and notify the incoming Front Desk, Valet and Management teams.
  • Monitor hotel interior and exterior cameras regularly for security and safety.
  • Restock back-office Housekeeping and Front Desk supplies and prepare morning lobby coffee service.
  • Maintain excellent communication with Front Office Manager and Guest Services Supervisor to identify and solve challenges and collaborate with the same to facilitate the creation and implementation of departmental SOP.
  • Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism in dealing with guests, staff and other managers.
  • Keep work area and lobby clean of all clutter while maintaining professional appearance and standards. Focus on working in a safe manner and create a safe working environment at all times.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of hotel services, products and procedures.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of sporting events, performing arts events, city events, restaurants and other areas that pertain to concierge as well as keeping guest services staff informed of all pertinent information.
  • Support, maintain and participate in other duties as determined necessary by manager.

Required Position Skills
  • Support Hotel Sorrento's core values with every guest and staff interaction
  • Professional Oral, written and computer communication
  • Excellent time management and problem solving
  • Guest-First service orientation
  • Teamwork and overall positive and gregarious disposition

Other Skills/Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop personal relationships in a professional manner.
  • Desire and ability to work within a diverse staff.
  • Ability to devise solutions to guest challenges in a timely manner in high stress situations.
