POSITION SUMMARY: The Maintenance Technician at one of Oxford’s boutique-style or luxury hotels is responsible for ensuring the hotel’s facilities, guest rooms, and public areas remain in top operational condition through routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive care of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. This role supports the overall guest experience by ensuring a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment across the property. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual capable of resolving maintenance issues efficiently while upholding Oxford Collection’s service and quality standards. The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in striving to meet and exceed Four-Star service standards, delivering high-quality service and amenities with strong attention to detail, ensuring excellence in every guest interaction, and consistently exceeding expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties and responsibilities of this position are to be performed with exceptional caring and genuine guest service upholding the Oxford Collection of hotels standards and culture at all times.

Safety & Preventative Maintenance (50%):

  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance for guest rooms, public areas, hotel equipment, and carpet care as scheduled under the direction of the Supervisor or Maintenance Manager
  • Flip mattresses and repair and move furniture as assigned by the supervisor, make suggestions for removal or replacement to ensure only quality items are presented to the guest.
  • Maintain a Four-Diamond experience by conducting regular preventative maintenance and efficiently completing repairs
  • Assist with preventative maintenance tasks such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, and other basic repairs to maintain the hotel and keep the product quality standard
  • Refurbish furniture and fixtures within guest rooms, such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows, and counters. Paint and finish furniture and fixtures as needed, making suggestions for replacement or repair of items to ensure Luxury standards are maintained
  • Provide general grounds keeping services such as trash removal, pool and spa maintenance, grounds upkeep, kitchen Equipment cleaning and service, and security rounds
  • Maintain organized work areas and equipment in alignment with sanitation and cleanliness standards while ensuring equipment operating logs are up to date
  • Be knowledgeable about and able to respond to emergency situations

Perform all tasks in compliance with federal, state, local, food safety and sanitation requirements and Oxford Collection of hotels safety standards and security procedures. Be knowledgeable about and able to respond to emergency situations. Report any maintenance repairs needed immediately to their supervisor or General Manager.

Maintenance Repairs (30%):

  • Ensure all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities are in top operational condition
  • Using hand tools; painting or repairing windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures
  • Trouble shoot and perform maintenance on hotel systems and equipment including plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipelines, toilets, sinks, kitchen, and laundry equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including air conditioning controls, television sets, and lighting systems, or make minor replacements as needed
  • Service the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals, cleaning filters, and maintaining record logs
  • Maintain the building exterior maintaining a Four Diamond curb appeal
  • Stay in touch with the Front Desk, bistro and housekeeping departments regarding guest needs that arise during the shift
  • Complete work in a manner that minimizes guest disruptions consistent with a Four Diamond Luxury experience.
  • Assist property leadership in meeting and exceeding all company benchmarks for preventative maintenance, response time, customer satisfaction, etc.

Guest Relations (15%):

  • Engage with in a polished and professional, customer-focused manner, providing a high level of service to ensure their needs are met consistent with Forbes service standards
  • Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests, prioritizing tasks based on urgency
  • Address guest concerns promptly and professionally, assisting with issue resolution when needed using the Oxford Collection guest recovery, and service gestures consistent with Forbes service standards
  • Maintain integrity, confidentiality, and sensitivity when working with both internal and external guests

Other (5%):

  • Communicate effectively with all hotel staff to ensure the smooth delivery of services
  • Adhere to attendance policies and maintain regular availability for scheduled shifts
  • May participate in the drivers program or other hotel-related duties as assigned

PREFFERED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • 2+ years of general maintenance experience preferred
  • Experience and knowledge of plumbing, refrigeration, carpentry, electrical and other guest room repairs preferred

  • Valid Drivers License Required
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening, weekends and holidays
  • Reliable and consistent attendance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, climb and walk on uneven surfaces on a frequent basis
  • Must be able to walk, climb ladders and work outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat)
  • Must be able to climb stairs both inside and outside and frequently lift 50 lbs. and often exert up to 20 pounds of force to push, pull, carry, lift or otherwise move objects.
