What is a Hotel Digital Marketing job?

A Hotel Digital Marketing job involves promoting a hotel’s brand, services, and offers through online channels to attract guests and drive bookings. This includes managing social media, optimizing the hotel website for search engines (SEO), running paid advertising campaigns, and using email marketing. Professionals in this role analyze data, track performance metrics, and implement strategies to improve online visibility and customer engagement. The goal is to maximize direct bookings, enhance guest experiences, and boost revenue through digital platforms.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Hotel Digital Marketing position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Hotel Digital Marketing professional, you need expertise in online marketing strategies, content creation, and data analytics, often supported by a degree in marketing or hospitality management. Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics, hotel booking platforms, search engine optimization (SEO), and certifications such as Google Ads or HubSpot are valuable. Strong communication, creativity, and project management skills help you effectively promote hotel brands and collaborate with diverse teams. These abilities are crucial for maximizing occupancy rates, enhancing brand visibility, and driving revenue in the competitive hospitality industry.

What are the primary challenges faced by Hotel Digital Marketing professionals in their daily work?

Hotel Digital Marketing professionals often navigate challenges such as adapting to rapidly changing digital trends, maintaining a consistent brand voice across multiple channels, and optimizing campaigns to achieve both occupancy targets and guest satisfaction. They must regularly analyze data to identify shifts in traveler behavior and adjust strategies accordingly, all while staying within budget constraints. Because the hotel industry is highly cyclical and impacted by seasonality, digital marketers also work closely with sales, revenue management, and front-desk teams to ensure a unified approach to promotions and guest engagement. Success in this role requires balancing creative campaigns with analytics-driven decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Job description

We are seeking a Digital Marketing Manager to lead and evolve the digital ecosystem across the Author & Edit portfolio. This role will own the digital guest experience across all brands, from websites and CRM to email marketing, digital listings and paid media support, ensuring every digital touchpoint is thoughtful, elevated, on-brand and performance-driven. This role requires someone with equal fluency in brand and performance, someone who understands that in a brand-led hospitality company, digital must not only function seamlessly, but feel visually considered, cohesive and distinctly on-brand at every touchpoint.

Why Author & Edit

  • Benefits available when you work 25 hours per week-including medical, dental, vision, and more

  • Paid time off

  • Retirement savings program (with company match)

  • Exclusive hotel and dining discounts across our brand

  • Access to on-site amenities in our Phoenix office, including gym and pickleball courts

  • Join a company known for exceptional service and standout guest experiences

  • Be part of a passionate team shaping the future of hospitality in Phoenix

  • Grow your career with a dynamic, expanding brand

Who We Are

At Author & Edit, we create original hospitality experiences designed to be remembered and talked about. Our approach is rooted in constant evolution, always refining and reimagining what hospitality can be. We don’t follow industry standards; we set them.

Founded by visionary restaurateur Sam Fox, Author & Edit is built on the idea that great hospitality is something you write, not replicate. From standout concepts like The Global Ambassador and The Twelve Thirty Club to a growing portfolio of hotels and restaurants, we’re shaping experiences that push the industry forward.

With multiple new projects currently under construction and an expanding presence, this is a unique opportunity to be part of a company in active growth. You’ll work closely with leadership, collaborate with a passionate team, and play a role in building what’s next in hospitality. If you're looking to grow your career while contributing to something innovative, dynamic, and continually evolving—this is where it happens.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the digital guest experience across all Author & Edit brands, ensuring every digital touchpoint is accurate, elevated, on-brand and optimized

  • Lead the strategy, execution and performance of the CRM program across all brands, including audience segmentation, automated flows, campaign deployment and ongoing optimization

  • Own all email marketing and campaign management from build to deployment, QA and reporting

  • Segment audiences and personalize messaging to drive engagement, retention and conversion across audiences

  • Build, execute and report on all email campaigns, identifying opportunities to improve performance across open rates, click-through, conversion and guest retention

  • Identify and develop new CRM and lifecycle marketing opportunities to deepen guest engagement and increase frequency

  • Serve as the digital liaison to Brand Marketing Managers, helping bring seasonal campaigns, launches and brand initiatives to life across digital channels

  • Partner with Brand Marketing Managers and external agency partners to support paid media planning, execution and performance reporting

  • Own digital reporting across platforms, delivering regular insights on campaign performance, website behavior, CRM trends and digital opportunities

  • Assist in the development, management and optimization of all brand websites, including content updates, image refreshes, seasonal offers, landing pages and calendar updates

  • Support and oversee new website development projects across brands and concepts in partnership with internal teams and external developers

  • Own all digital listings across platforms including Google, Yelp, TripAdvisor, OpenTable and other key guest-facing directories

  • Ensure all digital listings are accurate, current and reflective of the brand, including hours, menus, amenities, descriptions, imagery and seasonal updates

  • Manage user access and account permissions across digital listings and marketing platforms

  • Stay ahead of emerging digital trends and tools, with a particular focus on AI and its application across search, automation, workflow optimization and content discovery

  • Explore and implement new opportunities in AI-driven marketing, including AEO/GEO strategy, search visibility and operational efficiencies across digital systems

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of digital marketing experience, ideally within hospitality, restaurants, hotels or lifestyle brands

  • Strong experience managing CRM and email marketing programs, including segmentation, automation, testing and reporting

  • Deep understanding of digital campaign execution across owned and paid channels

  • Experience managing websites and CMS platforms, with strong instincts for UX, content flow and digital brand presentation

  • Strong brand instincts and a sharp visual eye, with a clear understanding of how brand translates across digital touchpoints

  • Ability to evaluate digital work through both a performance and brand lens, ensuring content is not only effective, but visually aligned, elevated and reflective of the guest experience

  • Deep appreciation for design, storytelling and visual consistency across websites, email, paid media and all guest-facing digital channels

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate performance data into actionable insights

  • Working knowledge of SEO, local search optimization and digital discoverability best practices

  • Familiarity with paid media strategy and performance across Google, Meta and other relevant platforms

  • Experience managing digital listing platforms including Google Business Profile, Yelp, TripAdvisor and OpenTable

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple timelines, stakeholders and priorities simultaneously

  • Highly collaborative and comfortable working cross-functionally across marketing, creative, operations and external partners

  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and a high standard for execution

  • Curious, proactive and eager to explore emerging technologies, particularly AI and its evolving role in hospitality marketing

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a sharp eye for brand voice and guest-facing content
