Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher in Wauwatosa, WI to provide high-quality educational services and support to students with special needs in grades K-12. Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, this educator will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, develop and implement individualized learning plans, provide specialized instruction, and support student success in both academic and social-emotional development.

The ideal candidate is committed to creating inclusive learning environments, partnering with general education staff, and helping students achieve their educational goals through individualized teaching strategies and interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students receiving special education services.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, therapists, and families.
  • Provide academic support, tutoring, and instructional modifications as needed.
  • Assess student progress and maintain required documentation and compliance records.
  • Participate in team meetings, student evaluations, and educational planning sessions.
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, district, and professional standards.

Assignment Details

  • Position: Special Education Teacher (School-Based)
  • Setting: K-12 School
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week
  • Contract Length: 9 Months
  • Start Date: August 17, 2026
  • Client Interview Required: Yes
  • Pay Rate: $40+/hr based on experience and credentials

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university (preferred).
  • Valid state teaching certification required in accordance with state and district regulations.
  • Minimum one year of teaching experience preferred.
  • Preferred certifications/endorsements:
    • Standard Elementary Teaching Certification
    • Standard Secondary Teaching Certification
    • Standard Special Education Teaching Certification
    • Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) Endorsement
  • Current CPR certification, if required.
  • Current health certificate and TB screening documentation, if required.
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
