A hospital technician assists with medical diagnoses by testing samples of blood, bone marrow, and other tissue and bodily fluid samples from patients. As a hospital technician, you spend most of your time in hospital laboratories performing tests of patient samples to aid in diagnosis. Your job duties include testing samples, analyzing test results, reporting the results to doctors, and maintaining laboratory equipment. A career as a hospital technician requires significant qualifications and post-secondary education, generally a bachelor’s degree in a scientific field, experience working in a laboratory environment, and strong analytical skills.
