Job description

JOB TITLE: Safety & Security Officer - Dispatch - Rochester General Hospital, Security (Full-Time, Evenings/Weekend Rotations)
STATUS: Full-time
LOCATION: Rochester General Hospital - 1425 Portland Avenue, Rochester, NY 14621
DEPARTMENT: Security
SCHEDULE: Evenings, 11:30 PM to 7:00 AM, Weekends are a 30-day rotating schedule, 3 on calls per month
SUMMARY
As a Security Officer, you patrol and protect the facility, grounds, and building to preserve the peace and make employees feel safe and secure.
ATTRIBUTES
  • One year of guard or public safety experience required
  • Demonstrated professionalism
  • Ability to think quickly and make decisive judgments
  • Ability to remain calm in high-stress situations

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Investigation & Safety. Investigate cases of detected or reported criminal and safety matters; identify and report real or potential hazards in the environment; transfer and discharge patients as requested
  • Parking Management. Monitor and control hospital employee and visitor parking areas

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT
  • One year of guard or public safety experience required

REQUIRED LICENSURE
  • High School Diploma OR GED
  • NYS Security Guard Act License (OR) Registered as a Police or Peace Officer in NYS
  • Valid NYS Driver's license.
  • CPR certification must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
  • The Preventing Managing Crisis Situation (PMCS) certification must be obtained within 3 months of hire.

EDUCATION:
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
NYS DL - valid New York State Driver's License - New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NYSDMV), SO - Security Officer license - New York State Department of State Division of Licensing Services (DOLS)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.
