Infection Control Nurse/Educator (RN)

AMG Specialty Hospital - Albuquerque seeks a Full Time Infection Control Nurse/Educator (RN) who is a qualified individual with knowledge of CDC guidelines and definitions of healthcare associated infections (HAIs), federal and state regulations. He/She is responsible for the identification, investigation, reporting, prevention and control of healthcare associated infections (HAIs) among patients and personnel. By authority of the Infection Control Committee, she/he may institute collection of cultures and initiate appropriate isolation precautions. She/He is responsible for assisting with in-service programs related to infection prevention and control. Concerning Employee Health, he/she is responsible for attending to all employee work related injuries and recommending appropriate action, as well as communicating with the risk manager any trends in the workplace. He/she is also responsible for pre-employment medical screening tests, as well as annual recurring screens. Also, he/she serves as a liaison to the worker's compensation carrier for our facility. He/she is responsible for development and implementation of the hospital's Utilization Review plan.

Job Requirements

  • Requires a current RN license with BSN preferred, OR Masters in Public Health (MPH), OR certified medical technologist, OR a bachelor's degree in microbiology or epidemiology
  • Minimum three (3) year experience in a supervisory position in healthcare or one (1) to three (3) years in infection control.
  • Member of the Association of Practitioners of Infection Control and Epidemiology and must complete APIC training course or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of microbiology, Epidemiology, infectious diseases, aseptic techniques and current practices.
  • Current CPR Certification and a willingness to renew.
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is preferred.
