About the role

Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking an experiencedย Finance and Operations Manager to join the teamย in this permanent, full-timeย opportunity.

As the Finance and Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in planning, reporting, and analysing the use of financial resources, monitoring the Hospital budget, and key performance indicators. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will have a significant impact on the strategic and operational planning of the public and private arms of the Hospital and Mater organisation.

Collaborating with various stakeholders, you will drive financial performance, operational efficiency, and quality improvement initiatives. If you are a strategic thinker with a passion for healthcare and a track record in financial management, this is the perfect opportunity to make a difference in Queensland's largest not-for-profit healthcare service.ย

What you'll be doing

As the Finance and Operations Manager, you will be responsible for a wide range of key activities, including:

  • Planning, reporting, and analysing the use of financial resources
  • Monitoring the Hospital budget and key performance indicators
  • Providing performance and management reporting to Mater Health Executive
  • Managing non-clinical operational functions including patient administration, hotel services & other support services
  • Supporting Mater Health and Corporate functions and strategies
  • Collaborating with the General Manager on operational and strategic planning
  • Contributing to and supporting the delivery of the public health contractย 
  • Supporting the attraction and recruitment of Visiting Medical Officers and Senior Medical Officers to ensure growth and expansion of the Hospital's private clinical services and delivery of the Hospital's public services
  • Strengthening Mater as a whole by working with other Mater ministries
  • Providing strategic, operational support, and advice to health service delivery leaders
  • Driving a culture of continuous learning and improvement
  • Ensuring adherence to Mater's Mission, Vision, and Values in all operational practices

About you

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced individual who possesses the following skills, experience, and qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, accounting, economics, commerce, or finance
  • Professional accreditation such as CPA or CA qualification (or currently working toward)
  • MBA or relevant post-graduate qualifications (desirable)
  • Previous management experience in a private hospital setting
  • Knowledge of healthcare funding models for private and public hospitals
  • Strategic outlook and ability to engage with operational staff
  • Strong communication skills
  • Deep understanding of financial management and budgeting
  • Creativity, innovation, and adaptability
  • Knowledge of healthcare operations and service delivery
  • Experience in leadership and management of operational service managers
  • Track record in quality improvement and meeting national standards
