The Medical Records Analyst reviews, processes, and maintains the accuracy and quality of patient medical records in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of ThedaCare.
Job Description:
Schedule:
Mon - Fri 8:00am - 4:30pm (Flexible)
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Processes and analyzes medical records for completeness against approved completion policies.
  • Abstracts and scans appropriate clinical and administrative documentation into patient paper or electronic medical records in a timely manner to ensure availability for continuum of care.
  • Audits, follows up, and checks in physician orders and plans of care to meet clinical care documentation and billing compliance.
  • Reviews requests and submits necessary chart documentation to comply with payer audits, accreditations, and government regulations.
  • Processes patient release of information requests in accordance with ThedaCare policy to meet health information and HIPAA regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates storage and destruction of required paper documentation according to ThedaCare policy to meet legal requirements.
  • Reviews and submits data sets to CMS for compliance with state regulations.
  • Provides support services within the defined service area.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Two years of experience in medical office or hospital medical records

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance
  • Job classification is not exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Normally works in climate controlled office environment
  • Frequent sitting with movement throughout office space
  • Use of computers throughout the work day
  • Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers
