Principal Responsibilities:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to organizational strategy, decision-making and long-term sustainability. The CFO oversees the Finance Unit and the Information Technology department and serves as the primary financial spokesperson. The CFO works directly with the Chief Executive Officer and supports the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Program Officer in all strategic and tactical matters related to budget management, forecasting, contract negotiation, cost analysis and funding strategies. The CFO ensures that financial systems and technology platforms support organizational goals, operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial operations and drive the organization's fiscal health. The CFO will oversee all financial aspects, including accounting, reporting, risk management, and strategic planning. This executive role requires a deep understanding of corporate finance, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis within both nonprofit and for-profit sectors. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, advanced financial acumen, and a proven track record in managing complex financial systems and teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
Key Role Responsibilities
  • Support the mission of the organization by implementing financial strategies and planning for sustainable growth.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Finance and IT departments, including staff supervision, training, and development.
  • Collaborate with the CEO on strategic visioning, stakeholder relationships, and contract development.
  • Assist in identifying new funding opportunities and prepare programmatic budgets for prospective services.
  • Evaluate all proposed contracts and advise the Executive Team on financial and operational implications.
  • Ensure strong internal controls, documentation and compliance standards to meet all audit requirements.
  • Provide annual operating budgets to the CEO and COO and support cost analysis for programmatic success.
  • Interpret federal, state and local regulations to ensure compliance and disseminate guidance to relevant staff.
  • Oversee timely and accurate fiscal reporting, including balance sheets, revenue and expense reports and grant budgets.
  • Manage purchasing, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Oversee financial audits, ensure resolution of findings and verify compliance with GAAP and required schedules.
  • Lead financial and IT reporting for the Board and its committees including Audit, Finance, Investment, Budget, Personnel and Building.
  • Monitor banking activities, manage cash flow and safeguard financial assets.
  • Oversee the organization's Savings and Retirement Plan and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Evaluate benefit plans to support employee recruitment and retention.
  • Oversee financial statements, monthly reconciliations and cash flow projections.
  • Coordinate wage and salary calculations and staff compensation structure.
  • Ensure a comprehensive disaster recovery plan including IT system continuity and data security.
  • Manage business insurance plans and health care coverage analysis.
  • Oversee the inventory and tracking of all fixed assets and ensure compliance for items purchased with government funds.
  • Provide executive oversight of technology infrastructure through direct management or coordination with IT leadership, including data systems, cybersecurity practices and systems integrity.
  • Lead IT budgeting and long-term technology planning.
  • Oversee IT vendor contracts, licensing agreements and service providers.
  • Ensure accurate financial dashboards, reporting tools and integrations across operational software systems.
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State Grants systems; SAMS; DEMES. Responsible for grant applications and financial reporting.
Ability to:
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative partnerships with community stakeholders, staff, executive leadership and the Board of Directors.

$135,000 - $150,000
