Job description

Job Title: Assistant Controller
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support the Controller and executive leadership team in overseeing the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close process. This individual will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of financial information related to complex construction projects and will have extensive experience with Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting, accruals, and job cost accounting. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in construction or major projects, possess leadership experience, and thrive in a fast-paced project-based environment.
Responsibilities
  • Support the Controller and executive team in overseeing accounting operations.
  • Ensure the accuracy of financial information related to complex construction projects.
  • Manage the month-end close process and financial reporting.
  • Oversee Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting.
  • Conduct accrual and job cost accounting.
  • Lead and manage the accounting team, providing guidance and support.

Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • 1+ year of accounting management or supervisory experience.
  • Strong experience in Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting, Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting, job costing, accrual accounting, month-end close, general ledger accounting, and financial analysis.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Industry experience in Construction.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition principles.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a project-driven environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52.88 - $52.88/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
