Job description

We are currently seeking a talented individual to become a Clocker. An individual could be successful if they possess the following.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The clocker accurately records all workouts on the race course during which the race meeting is being conducted.
  • Accurately records times of horses working out
  • Able to identify horses by trainer's saddle cloth and horse color
  • Records multiple workouts at the same time by using multiple stopwatches
  • Presents daily records to the racing secretary and stewards
  • Posts the records for the benefit of the public daily records of all workouts clocked
  • Makes a record of daily workout times available to the news media
  • Ability to work required overtime
  • Regular punctual attendance required
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Knowledge of location of race course pole locations and distances
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 1 year of experience clocking workouts

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
