NEMT (Non-Emergency Medical Transportation) Driver โ€“ Victorville, Barstow, Apple Valley, CAย 

Horizon Transportation is currently seeking NEMT (Non-Emergency Medical Transportation) Drivers to join our team of exceptionally skilled and committed non-medical emergency transportation specialists.

AGE REQUIREMENT:

Please note that our company insurance policy requires our drivers to be 23 years of age or older.

BASIC JOB PURPOSE:

The NEMT Driver will operate company vehicles rendering service for the transport of members in a safe, timely, and courteous manner. Communicates with and assists members; perform other related duties as required.

This position reports directly to the Fleet Supervisor.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Able to operate vehicles and sit for extended periods of time.

Able to stand, kneel, bend, lift, squat, pull, and push members frequently.

Able to adapt to weather, road, outdoor conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

โ€ข Provides safe and timely transportation for our members to and from medical facilities and/or home in a timely manner.

โ€ข Demonstrates patience, empathy, and compassion for member needs and conveys a willingness to assist, as needed.

โ€ข Maintains clear communication between Members andย Dispatch.

โ€ข Communicates vehicle incidents and accidents when they are immediately discovered and/or occur to leadership.

โ€ข Uses time efficiently and completes work in a timely manner.

โ€ข Complies with expectations of our contracts and all applicable Federal, State, and Local Regulatory standards for driving and vehicle safety.

โ€ข Ability to present oneself as well as the company in a professional manner.

โ€ข Any other duties as assigned by management.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

โ€ข Competent verbal and written English skills.

โ€ข Must possess a valid Class C California driverโ€™s license or higher.

โ€ข Must pass a Criminal Background Screening and Sex Offender Registry Search at time of hire and annually thereafter.

โ€ข Must pass government exclusion listings at time of hire and monthly thereafter.

โ€ข Must pass a driver history check at time of hire and continuously during employment.

โ€ข Must pass and maintain valid certification for CPR/AED/First Aid and other required training programs during employment.

โ€ข Must pass drug and/or alcohol screen at time of hire and randomly thereafter.

โ€ข Experience using navigation software on mobile devices such as Google Maps, Waze, Maps, etc

POSITION SUMMARY

The Non-Emergency Medical Transport Driver is responsible for driving members to and from rehab facilities, nursing homes, home, and other hospitals in a safe, efficient, and professional manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF DRIVER:

โ€ข Pick-up clients at home or other living facilities. Provides the assistance required to safely board clients and caregivers.

โ€ข Transport clients to appointments and back to home and other medical facilities

โ€ข Ensures all stretchers, wheelchairs, and ambulatory passengers are properly secured before starting the vehicle.

โ€ข On arrival at the medical facility, assist clients in exiting the vehicle and reaching the proper offices or treatment areas.

โ€ข Check the vehicle to ensure that no personal items are left behind.

โ€ข Follow company safety and operational rules and procedures.

โ€ข Operate mobile devices, various software systems and operate GPS.

โ€ข Follow safe loading and unloading procedures.

โ€ข Maintains appropriate logs/records.

โ€ข Maintains clean and efficient equipment; cleans wheelchairs and stretchers after each use with disinfectant; reports defective/broken equipment to supervisor.

โ€ข Communicate transport details with dispatch.

โ€ข Possess a friendly and courteous attitude when transporting clients.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

โ€ข Fluent in English

โ€ข Current CPR certification (preferred; company will pay for you to receive within first 30 days of employment)

โ€ข First Aid Certification (preferred; the company will pay for you to receive within first 30 days of employment)

โ€ข Hold a current valid driver's license and have an excellent driving record.

โ€ข Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening, MVR screening, and background check.

โ€ข Safely operate a wheelchair or stretcher van.

โ€ข Must be reliable and capable of working independently.

โ€ข Must have reliable transportation to and from work.

โ€ข Must be flexible to work early morning, mid-morning, or late evening hours.

โ€ข Must be flexible to be placed on-call for after-hours, holidays, and weekends when rotated.

โ€ข Flexible to changing work priorities/schedules.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

โ€ข Ability to lift, push, pull, and position clients frequently.

โ€ข Ability to perform considerable reaching, stooping, and bending.

โ€ข The employee must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
