Job description

Manage plant material control functions, including forecasting, master scheduling, production planning and control, purchased item planning, MRO procurement, shipping and receiving, and inventory control. Report to plant manager and support all logistical activities to provide optimum manufacturing performance.
Essential Functions:
  • Manage and maintain planning of bill of materials and provide purchased parts and raw material availability in response to marketing forecasts. Organize the systematic update of planning bill composition and popularity percentages. Incorporate monthly marketing forecast quantities into the product family planning bill parents and adjust the range of the planning horizon.
  • Supervise the plant production scheduling functions, including master product scheduling and shop floor scheduling. Provide material availability to support on time deliveries of customer sales orders to meet plant goals. Incorporate final assembly scheduling, work order management, and KANBAN within the CA-KBM software system.
  • Control plant inventory to optimize turnover and minimize investment. Administer cycle count program and WIP audits to obtain accurate inventory values and effectively utilize MRP II. Monitor safety stock levels and establish order policies to balance inventory availability with low levels of investment. Work with vendors to establish on time deliveries and JIT programs.
  • Direct the shipping and receiving function to provide error-free outbound shipments expeditiously. Ship customer sales orders complete and by the requested ship date. Support customer service with sales order status communications.
  • Analyze plant work center capacities through rough-cut and detailed capacity planning. Use the marketing forecast to drive standard hour requirements to plant machine and manpower resources. Recommend capacity adjustments to the plant manager, i.e., equipment and staffing levels. Identify constraints and maximize attendant throughput.

Education and Training
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or business management.
  • APICS Certification (CPIM).
  • Masters preferred but not required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience with a minimum of 5 years in supervision in materials management.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of MRPII.
  • Must be proficient in analytical problem-solving techniques and possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong leadership and team-building qualities.

  • Daily walking and interaction on the manufacturing floor.
  • Office time: Constant sitting.
  • Minimal bending, squatting and kneeling.
  • Occasional pinching and grasping.
  • Minimal climbing and reaching.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Carrying up to 20 lbs. approximately 25 feet.
  • Push/Pull 1-10 lbs. of force 5 feet.
  • Travel to other Hendrickson plants, conferences/meetings, suppliers, and customers on as-needed basis.
