Job Title

$3,000 - $3,200 a week Position Overview: Akicita Federal is seeking experienced and compassionate Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide professional inpatient medical-surgical nursing services at the Hopi Health Care Center (HHCC) in Polacca, Arizona. This role supports inpatient medical care within a 24/7 operating hospital environment, ensuring high-quality patient care in alignment with the standards of the Indian Health Service (IHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and The Joint Commission (TJC). The position is designed to provide continuity of care and minimize disruptions due to staffing shortages in this critical access facility serving the Hopi community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive inpatient nursing care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions.
  • Receive and carry out physician orders, including administering medications, blood products, oxygen, and treatments.
  • Operate and monitor medical devices such as EKG machines, drainage and feeding tubes, and respiratory equipment.
  • Record and report patient observations, condition changes, and interventions using the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Supervise and delegate duties to ancillary staff while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Perform emergency procedures, including resuscitation and management of life-threatening situations.
  • Recognize and respond to adverse drug reactions or treatment complications.
  • Maintain adherence to infection control, safety, and hospital policies.
  • Participate in staff meetings, required training, and competency assessments.
  • Provide culturally sensitive care to the Hopi and Navajo populations, ensuring respect for tribal customs and traditions.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years as a Registered Nurse, including at least 2 years in a Medical-Surgical or Inpatient setting.
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program (BSN, ADN, or Nursing Diploma).
  • Licensure: Current, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. State, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Territory.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Required Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – Required
Shift & Schedule

12-hour shifts: 7:30 AM – 8:00 PM or 7:30 PM – 8:00 AM (subject to change based on unit needs). Possible 10-hour shifts depending on operational requirements. Facility operates 24/7, including weekends and holidays. Schedules may change based on patient census and staffing requirements.
