Job description


As a Lead Test Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will take a senior leadership role in driving the test engineering strategy and execution for complex aerospace products. You will lead the design, development, and implementation of comprehensive test plans that ensure compliance with rigorous industry standards and customer requirements. Your deep technical expertise in RF testing, range testing, and qualification testing (including DO-160, environmental, and EMI) will be critical in validating product performance and reliability under diverse operational conditions.
You will report directly to our Sr Software Engineering Manager, and you'll work out of our Olathe, KS location on a Hybrid work schedule.
In this role, you will significantly impact product quality and safety by overseeing all phases of test engineering activities, from initial concept through final certification. Your leadership will drive innovation in test methodologies and tools, ensuring that Honeywell's aerospace products meet and exceed industry standards. You will mentor and guide a team of test engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the design, development, deployment, and sustainment of automated test and acceptance systems.
  • Provide technical leadership for engineering teams supporting complex electrical and test equipment projects.
  • Drive test strategy, qualification, calibration, and validation activities for production and development systems.
  • Manage project planning, technical estimates, resource allocation, schedules, and execution priorities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and vendors to ensure successful delivery of engineering solutions.
  • Establish and improve engineering processes, design practices, and operational efficiencies.
  • Mentor engineers, conduct technical reviews, and support team capability development.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, test systems, or automation engineering.
  • Strong experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE), acceptance test systems, or qualification systems.
  • Hands-on experience with analog, digital, mixed-signal, and control system design.
  • Proficiency in LabVIEW, National Instruments TestStand, and hardware/software integration.
  • Experience programming in C, C#, PLC Ladder Logic, and/or VHDL.
  • Experience with PCB design, troubleshooting, and system-level integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and coordinate cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of test equipment calibration, validation, and lifecycle support.
