Library Homework Helper

Mission Bend Branch Library

Assist students with homework assignments and provide academic support in a variety of subjects.

Help students in the library focus on learning skills, develop good homework and study habits, use appropriate learning strategies, and find resources for completing homework assignments.

Demonstrate and assist students and parents with the use of homework help database.

Reinforce learning concepts that are evident in homework assignments.

Talk with caregivers and parents with homework strategies, study skills, and general academic support.

Find and/or create handouts and learning materials that reinforce learning concepts when homework is complete.

Prepare learning environment for students, assuring pens, pencils, paper, and other supplies are readily available.

Track student attendance, parent participation; brief monthly narrative.

Minimum Requirements
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in education. (Current students in Education, BA or BS Degree with 75% or more-degree completion will be considered. Transcripts are required.)
  • 1 year of teaching experience is preferred.
  • Keyboarding skills; computer skills involving use of the Internet and database searching.
  • Good communication skills and ability to interact easily with students, staff and the public.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift library materials up to 10 pounds.
  • Position requires evening hours.
