Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Writer’s Studio Coordinator helps provide administrative oversight of the daily operations of the Writer’s Studio, including supervising student staff (Peer Learning Coaches). Provide training workshops, performance evaluations, and assessments for Peer Learning Coaches. Disseminate information about the Writer’s Studio to all students, faculty, and staff. Supervise tutoring sessions for all students. Track and report necessary data to both Title III, CAE, and CAS Create and maintain an event programming calendar with goals and objectives that align with the university vision for CAE, The Writer’s Studio, and greater HT community. Organize writing/or literacy related enrichment activities and programs for HT students.    


TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Offer instructional support and professional development opportunities to students, faculty, and staff. Manage the computer lab that is housed within the Writers’ Studio.
  • Assist the Director of The Center of Academic Excellence in creation and implantation of training workshops for Peer Learning Coaches.
  • Employ technology, such as YouTube, Upswing, Signal Vine, and social media platforms to assist in the instructional support of student writers.
  • Provide year-round targeted academic support, which may include subject-specific tutoring, group individual tutoring, student programming initiatives, student orientation programs, and academic workshops.
  • Participate in weekly professional development and meetings to discuss student needs and develop skills to provide targeted supports. Meet regularly with the Director of The Center of Academic excellence and participate in regular feedback, including formal and informal observations.
  • Attend onboarding and orientation prior to the start of the fall, summer, and spring sessions.
  • Challenge students to reach content mastery through homework help and supplemental learning activities.
  • Master’s degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, or Writing
  • Experience and demonstrated ability teaching writing

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Experience working with ESL students and tutoring in a writing center strongly preferred 

SUPERVISION

  • This position reports to the Director of The Center for Academic Excellence

SALARY RANGE

  • $50,000 annually, plus benefits!
