Job description

The Hospice Homemaker provides non-medical support services to patients in their homes. This role includes assistance with light housekeeping, meal preparation, and companionship, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients receiving hospice care. The Homemaker works under the supervision of a licensed nurse and follows the care plan established by the interdisciplinary team.Essential Functions:
  • Provide light housekeeping services such as dusting, vacuuming, and laundry.
  • Assist with meal planning and preparation according to patient preferences and dietary needs.
  • Offer companionship and emotional support to patients.
  • Observe and report changes in the patient's environment or condition to the supervising nurse.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment.
  • Follow infection control and safety procedures during service delivery.
  • Document services provided accurately and timely.
  • Participate in in-service training and quality improvement activities.
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Licensure:

Valid driver's license.

Experience:

Previous experience in a caregiving or homemaker role preferred; hospice experience is a plus.

Skills:

Compassionate demeanor, effective communication skills, and ability to follow instructions.

Environmental and Working Conditions:
