Job description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Homecare Respiratory Manager to lead respiratory services across multiple Home Medical Equipment (HME) locations. This hybrid leadership position offers the flexibility of working primarily remotely while maintaining a visible presence through regular travel, site visits, and caregiver rounding across the region.

This role is ideal for a strong, confident leader who can successfully manage a geographically dispersed workforce, hold teams accountable to performance expectations, and foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and patient-centered care. The successful candidate will be comfortable addressing difficult employee situations, providing coaching and corrective action when needed, and making decisions that support both caregivers and organizational goals.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid position with the ability to work remotely for the majority of the time. Regular travel to HME locations and onsite rounding are required to support caregivers, monitor operations, and maintain strong relationships across the organization.

What You'll Do

As the Homecare Respiratory Manager, you will provide operational, clinical, and financial leadership for respiratory services while ensuring exceptional service and patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and develop respiratory caregivers across multiple HME locations.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing, competency, and skill mix to meet patient needs and service expectations.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee development, corrective action, and disciplinary processes.
  • Build a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with clinical leaders, operations teams, physicians, and other departments to optimize patient care and service delivery.
  • Develop and implement programs that improve quality, efficiency, patient experience, and caregiver engagement.
  • Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and financial performance while identifying opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure respiratory equipment is available, maintained, and functioning properly.
  • Monitor compliance with organizational policies, accreditation requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Stay informed of industry best practices and regulatory changes, implementing improvements to policies, processes, and workflows as needed.
  • Conduct regular onsite rounding and travel to support caregivers and operations across multiple locations.
  • Maintain clinical competency and fulfill required clinical responsibilities in accordance with departmental expectations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Demonstrated respiratory therapy experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Current Respiratory Therapist license in the state of practice.
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related field from an accredited program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading respiratory or clinical operations within a Homecare, HME, DME, or integrated healthcare environment.
  • Experience overseeing multiple sites or geographically dispersed teams.
  • Membership in AARC and/or USRC.
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Ongoing need for caregiver to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
  • Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
  • May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs, when the leader takes clinical shifts.
  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
