Home inspectors are professionals who assess the condition of residential properties, typically when they are being bought or sold. They examine major systems and components of a home, such as the roof, foundation, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, to identify any existing or potential issues. Their findings are detailed in a report that helps buyers, sellers, and real estate agents make informed decisions. Home inspectors are usually licensed or certified and follow industry standards to ensure thorough and unbiased evaluations.

Compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills help build trust with clients and families. These qualifications ensure safe, effective care and support for clients to maintain their independence at home.

Sherwood Inspection Services has been the trusted name in residential home inspections across Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New England for over 20 years. Our team brings more than 30 years of hands-on inspection experience to every job, backed by digital reports delivered within 24 hours, weekend and evening availability, and Spanish-speaking inspectors who help us serve a diverse client base. We back our work with a free termite inspection, a 90-day warranty, and a money-back guarantee, because we stand behind the quality of every inspection we perform.
We're hiring a Licensed Home Inspector to join our growing team and help homeowners, buyers, sellers, and real estate professionals make confident decisions about the properties that matter most to them. If you're an experienced, detail-oriented inspector who takes pride in clear communication and quality work, we'd love to talk with you.
    What You'll Do
    • Perform comprehensive residential inspections, evaluating structural, mechanical, and safety systems with a sharp eye for detail
    • Conduct pre-purchase inspections that give buyers clear, reliable insight into a property's true condition
    • Complete pre-listing inspections that help sellers get ahead of issues before a property hits the market
    • Provide maintenance inspections that help homeowners catch small problems before they become expensive ones
    • Navigate attics, crawl spaces, and other tight or hard-to-reach areas as part of a full property assessment
    • Communicate findings clearly, both in person and in writing, so clients always know exactly what they're getting
    What You'll Need
    • An active Massachusetts Home Inspector License, required to perform inspections independently
    • National Home Inspector Examination (NHIE) certification
    • A High School Diploma or GED
    • Proven experience in property inspection or a closely related field, with a strong grasp of structural and mechanical systems
    • Comfort working independently in the field and managing your own schedule
    • The physical ability to navigate attics and crawl spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and differentiate colors
    • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation
    • Capacity to complete up to 10 inspections per week, with availability for at least 2 weekend appointment slots
Why Home Inspectors Choose Sherwood Inspection Services
    • A stable, full-time role in a high-demand market across Connecticut and Massachusetts
    • A strong scheduling and operations team that keeps your calendar full and your day organized
    • A steady, consistent volume of inspections, so you're never left wondering where the next job is coming from
    • The chance to work alongside experienced inspection professionals who take the craft seriously
    • A company reputation built on trust, accuracy, and 20-plus years of service to the community
    Ready to Join Our Team?
If you're a licensed home inspector looking for your next opportunity in Connecticut or Massachusetts, we want to hear from you. Apply today to bring your experience and attention to detail to a team that values quality inspections and long-term client relationships.
