Job description

We are looking for a hands-on individual to join GAF Commercial R&D as a Product & Systems Test Engineer II to coordinate product testing at FM, UL and third party labs. This is an exciting opportunity to be a key contributor to the success of projects in a highly cross-functional environment, and to develop a solid foundation in the crucial function of product testing and certification!
Essential Duties
  • Coordinate product and system testing in assigned categories at FM Approvals, Underwriters Laboratories and other third party testing labs to support product launches, innovation, sales, operations and procurement needs, including (a) development of project scopes and associated alignment across the Commercial Business Unit (b) material ordering, (c) test deck construction, (d) test witnessing and (e) documentation and communication of test results.
  • Work under the guidance of Product & System Test Engineers II and IV to identify project risks and implement mitigating strategies.
  • Actively participate in updating and editing of product specification changes in assigned categories led by Operations, R&D and Quality to ensure continued code compliance.
  • Assist Product & System Test Engineers III and IV with technical support and research for R&D, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales, Field Technical Services, Design Services 411 Help Desk and Third Party Purchasing
  • Assist department with communication, internally and externally, of product approvals and certifications.
  • Contribute toward a team culture of shared learning, mutual support and growth.

Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering or Science, preferably Mechanical, Civil, Chemical or Materials Science coupled with 2+ years of experience in a related field required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the building materials industry (roofing industry preferred) and product testing
  • Intermediate knowledge of FM Approvals on-line directory, RoofNav
  • Intermediate knowledge of Underwriters Laboratories
  • Intermediate - advanced communication skills
  • Intermediate - advanced analytical skills
  • Advanced organizational skills, including those associated with project management software (AO Docs, Google Suite, etc.).
  • Needs to be a hands on, team-oriented individual
  • This position is based in our Parsippany, NJ corporate headquarters which currently operates on a hybrid in-office schedule. Though employees are welcome to work in our office on Friday, this position must be performed in-office on Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely from the employee's home office on Friday.

Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications.
Base Salary Range: $72,000-$99,000
