The trainee will also become familiar with warehouse and related operational tasks as part of the pathway toward becoming a fully‑qualified driver.

CDL‑A Driver Training – Tuition Covered by the Organization

Location: Northfield, MN
Work hours: Monday‑Thursday, 7:00 am – 5:30 pm

We are sponsoring a completely paid CDL‑A certification program at our Northfield facility, giving you the chance to launch a well‑compensated driving career with strong benefits.

Program Overview
  • Compensation during training: $23.50 per hour.
  • Prerequisite: Secure a CDL‑A permit before the first class.
  • Instruction schedule: Four weeks of on‑site training, Monday‑Thursday.

Key Responsibilities

Working alongside an experienced driver trainer, you will develop the abilities needed to perform the following tasks:

  • Position the tractor, attach the trailer, and secure all connections.
  • Operate the vehicle safely, adhering to all local, state, federal regulations and internal policies.
  • Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of the tractor‑trailer, completing DOT inspection reports.
  • Utilize the Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH) to record delivery receipts, temperature readings, and any exceptions; verify trailer integrity before transport.
  • Ride with the trainer to various delivery points, observing proper engine start‑up, intersection handling, turning, backing, parking, and maneuvering on both roadways and customer premises.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs (manual or electronic) in compliance with DOT rules, documenting receipts, temperatures, and issues.
  • Assist the driver with unloading and placing products at customer locations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Possession of a CDL‑A permit is required.
  • Complete the training and obtain a Class A CDL within six months.
  • Willingness to handle, load, unload, and deliver any merchandise ordered by our customers.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, bend, squat, and stoop as needed.
  • Capability to read and interpret labels, instructions, and shipping documents.
  • Basic math skills for verifying product quantities.
  • Effective communication with customers, supervisors, and fellow team members.
  • Proficiency in operating a tractor‑trailer, two‑wheel dolly, ramp, and onboard PeopleNet devices.
Working Environment
  • The role spans areas such as distribution centers, transportation hubs, maintenance shops, and customer sites.
  • Conditions may involve moderate noise, vehicle vibration, and exposure to varying weather depending on the season.
  • Frequent travel is expected, including overnight stays.
