Description

SGA's mission is to help children, families, and communities facing great challenges to realize their potential. SGA 

uses a proven and innovative method called the Cycle of Opportunity. This system is a continuum of comprehensive services that helps break the cycle of adversity and provide families with enough opportunity to change their lives and their communities. 

SGA's Early Head Start Home-based program serves Pregnant moms and children 0-3 years within the City of Chicago through weekly home visits engaging both the caregiver and the child. Additionally, families participate in bi-monthly group socializations, parent trainings, governance, and field trips. As part of the research-based Head Start program, all children and their families receive wraparound services to ensure the healthy development and success of the child. 


The Home-Based Home Visitor/Administrative Support (HBHVAS) performs a variety of administrative tasks while also maintaining a reduced caseload and providing coverage during home visitor vacancies. This position is responsible for generating program orders, managing small program projects, and drafting program materials (e.g., flyers, surveys).

The HBHVAS supports the Early Advantage home visiting program and its related services by assisting with the preparation and planning of home visits and ensuring the effective implementation of family engagement services. This support is especially critical when the caseload from a vacant home visitor position cannot be reassigned to another home visitor or exceeds the capacity of the Home-Based Supervisor. Additionally, The Home-Based Home Visitor/Administrative Support is responsible for ensuring materials, supplies, food, etc., are ordered and readily available for program staff use. This position reports to the Home-based Supervisor.  


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately and efficiently attend to administrative duties as assigned by the Home-based Supervisor. 
  • Takes PAT training to Implements the PAT curriculum within the assigned caseload 
  • Carry a reduce caseload of program participants 
  • Conduct a minimum of bi-monthly home visits for each assigned child/family. Prepare and plan for home visits with families and monthly socializations when assigned by the Home-based Supervisor.
  • Complete home visit observation, Screenings, Assessments, file documentation, ensuring comprehensive services are implemented as required by Head Start Performance Standards in the Early Head Start Home-based option. 
  • Ensure proper documentation is entered into data system including home visits, socializations, attendance, and other necessary documentation per assigned child/family, as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings with home visitors to receive feedback regarding data, team lesson planning, planning for socializations, and team activities.
  • Draft program documents, manage small program projects, collaborate with Home-based Supervisor to deliver positive programmatic experiences to staff and enrolled children and families. 
  • Monitor program materials and supplies, place inventory orders, place food orders for socializations, and maintain filing system for invoices and other supportive evidence for reconciliation.    
  • Participate in reflective supervision with Home-based Supervisor, program meetings, Funder organizational meetings, and other meetings assigned.
  • Maintain accurate calendar, Concur expenses, timely ADP timecard & PTO submissions, and adherences to organizational priorities. 
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.


Requirements

 Education:

  • BA in Social Work, Early Childhood Education
  • Gateways Credential level 5
  • At least 2 years of experience working in early childhood/family support, or home visiting programs is required.

Experience:

  • Knowledge of and ability to implement early childhood curriculum and developmentally appropriate practice for    the specific age group 0-3 and be able to remain abreast of developments in the child development field.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to utilize reflective supervision.
  • Knowledge of and ability to assess, analyze, and interpret Head Start Standards and Start Early's philosophy.
  • Ability to work as a cooperative and supportive team member.
  • Ability to communicate and cooperate with diverse families, various professionals and community groups.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a program located in a high-risk, low-income community.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information and materials.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer applications, including word-processing software in a Windows environment and the ability to learn and master other computer technology /software programs as needed.
  • Ability to communicate and respond in a manner that consistently demonstrates respect and concern.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Ability to work varying hours Monday - Friday, Schedule may include some evenings and weekends

. Must have a valid driver's license and automobile insurance required for work related travel


KEY COMPETENCIES

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time.

Occasionally ascends/descends stairs.

Constantly moves to assist during program activities.

At times it may be required to lift up to 25 lbs. for various needs.

Frequently moves in outdoor weather conditions.
