Job description

Job Description: Concrete Finisher
We are seeking a skilled Concrete Finisher to join our team. Wiregrass Construction is committed to taking care of our employees and offers excellent compensation and low-cost benefits. As a Concrete Finisher, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and precise finishing of poured concrete surfaces, working under the guidance of your supervisor. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will be essential in delivering high-quality results on various projects.
Primary Duties:
  • Set and align concrete forms to the desired pitch and depth, ensuring proper construction.
  • Spread, level, and smooth concrete surfaces using various tools such as rakes, shovels, hand or power trowels, hand or power screeds, and floats.
  • Monitor environmental conditions like wind, heat, or cold to assess their impact on the curing process.
  • Mold expansion joints and edges with precision, utilizing edging tools, jointers, and straightedges.
  • Inspect and clean surfaces, identifying and rectifying rough or uneven areas with wire brushes and tactile evaluation.
  • Coordinate with the truck driver to facilitate the concrete pouring process and direct the chute effectively.
  • Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure and protect the concrete surface as required.
  • Assist with material handling tasks, including loading and unloading materials, shoveling dirt, gravel, and asphalt.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site, ensuring tools are properly stored at the end of each shift.
  • Report any potential safety or equipment issues promptly to the department lead and adhere to all processes and procedures.
  • Wear appropriate clothing, shoes, and personal protective equipment for safety and compliance.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned or required, supporting the team as needed.

  • Sit occasionally for extended periods, accounting for approximately 25% of the time.
  • Frequent reaching, handling, and feeling, covering about 70% of the time.
  • Utilize finger dexterity extensively, approximately 70% of the time.

Working Conditions:
  • Moderate to high noise level in the work environment.
  • Exposure to extreme heat and cold, as the work environment is not environmentally controlled.

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:
  • Ideal candidates should have six months to one year of experience in concrete finishing.

Other Skills/Abilities:
  • Steady hand and arm movement for precise work.
  • Quick hand movement and coordination for grasping, manipulating, or assembling objects.
  • Close-range vision for examining details.
  • Ability to adjust actions in response to others' actions.

The posted salary or pay compensation ranges are approximate and dependent on applicable experience and qualifications. Upper ranges are flexible.
