Research Analyst Associate / UAS Pilot

Seize your opportunity to make a personal impact as a Research Analyst Associate /UAS Pilot supporting the FAA's Airport Research Division. You will be part of the team assessing different concepts and approaches to using UAS platforms to improve the safety and efficiency of Airport Operations. HOW A RESEARCH ANALYST ASSOCIATE / UAS PILOT WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Provides expertise in the operation of unmanned aircraft. Develop flight test plans and procedures. Develop briefing and training materials to support flight operations. Plans and performs a wide range of in-process and final testing of analog, digital, microwave, optical and mechanical systems, and equipment under ambient and environmental conditions. Technical knowledge and experience with UAS operations to facilitate their integration safely and efficiently into the NAS. This effort requires collaboration with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, which includes manufacturers, commercial vendors, industry trade associations, technical standards organizations, academic institutions, research and development centers, governmental agencies, and other regulators. Ultimately, technical knowledge and experience to support UAS integration into the NAS without reducing existing capacity, decreasing safety, negatively impacting current operators, or increasing the risk to airspace users or persons and property on the ground any more than the integration of comparable new and novel technologies.

WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: Not Requires
  • Required Experience: Must be Part 107 Certified and have 40 (the minimum is 20 hours)-plus documented hours of safely operating UAS platforms.
  • Security Clearance Level: FAA Suitability Background
  • Required Skills and Abilities: Part 107 Certified.
  • Preferred Skills: Experience using flight planning software
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in any field.
  • Location: On-site at the William J Hughes Technical Center at the Atlantic City Airport
