Job description

Job Summary:
1872 Consulting is a major cryptocurrency-based startup seeking its first Lead Data Engineer. In this role, you'll lead a team of data engineers and analysts, design and build data pipelines, and implement new tools and technology to enhance Data Engineering efforts.
Responsibilities:
• Design and build reliable data pipelines to clean, aggregate, and transform large volumes of data from multiple sources.
• Develop versatile software components to extract useful information from various unstructured or semi-structured text data.
• Implement new tools and technology to support Data Engineering efforts.
• Lead, mentor and guide a team of less experienced data engineers and analysts
• Work closely with data scientists to develop, test and iterate data models and algorithms.
• Contribute to company-wide data privacy compliance efforts.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 5+ years of experience with Data Engineering
• Extensive experience in building large scale data pipelines with mainstream big data stack.
• Strong expertise in extracting useful information from unstructured and semi-structured text data.
• Experience with Kafka, Hadoop, Spark, etc.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience working in fast-paced, Agile environments
• A passion for cryptocurrency
Preferred:
• Experience with Java development
• FinTech or cryptocurrency experience
• Experience working for startups
