What is a home based remote integration engineer?

A Home Based Remote Integration Engineer is a technical professional who works remotely from home to design, implement, and maintain the integration of various software systems or platforms. Their role typically involves connecting different applications, databases, or services so that they work seamlessly together. They collaborate with clients or teams virtually, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data flows smoothly between systems. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, knowledge of integration tools or middleware, and effective communication in a remote work environment.

How does a home based remote integration engineer typically collaborate with on-site teams and clients during integration projects?

As a Home Based Remote Integration Engineer, much of your collaboration with on-site teams and clients happens via digital communication tools such as video conferencing, shared project management platforms, and instant messaging. You’ll often attend virtual meetings to discuss project requirements, troubleshoot issues, and provide updates. Clear documentation and proactive communication are crucial, as you may need to coordinate across time zones or with team members who have varying technical backgrounds. Building strong relationships remotely is key to ensuring smooth integration and timely resolution of any challenges that arise during projects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a home based remote integration engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Home Based Remote Integration Engineer, you need a strong background in computer science, systems integration, and network protocols, typically supported by a bachelor's degree and experience in IT or engineering. Familiarity with integration platforms (such as MuleSoft or Dell Boomi), APIs, cloud services, and relevant certifications (like AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are highly valued. Excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills help you collaborate effectively with distributed teams and clients. These capabilities are critical to ensuring seamless system integration, reliable remote operations, and successful project outcomes.

Job description

Senior Azure Integration Engineer

Enterprise Azure Integration Services Profile

Senior Azure Integration Engineer with 7-10+ years of hands-on enterprise integration experience across Microsoft Azure Integration Services, secure API platforms, event-driven architecture, and reliable system-to-system integration. Experienced with Azure API Management, Logic Apps Standard, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Event Grid/Event Hubs, Key Vault, Application Insights, Log Analytics, Azure DevOps/GitHub, and Infrastructure as Code. Strong background building secure, supportable, and repeatable integrations across Dynamics 365, Dataverse, Fabric/Data Factory, SaaS platforms, core systems, partner APIs, and enterprise line-of-business applications.

Core AIS expertise

  • Azure API Management (APIM): enterprise API gateway design, products/subscriptions, policies, OAuth2/JWT validation, managed identities, Key Vault-backed named values, throttling/rate limiting, IP filtering, versions/revisions, developer portal, and API lifecycle management.
  • Logic Apps Standard and Azure Functions: workflow orchestration, connector-based integration, C#/.NET serverless development, HTTP/timer/Service Bus triggers, VNET-integrated hosting, managed identity access, and Application Insights telemetry.
  • Azure Service Bus, Event Grid, and Event Hubs: reliable messaging, pub/sub, queues, topics/subscriptions, filters, sessions, load leveling, event routing, and scalable event-driven processing.
  • Batch and data movement patterns using Data Factory / Fabric Data Factory pipelines for scheduled processing, enrichment, bulk movement, and incremental integration scenarios.

Enterprise integration patterns

  • Design and implementation of synchronous API, asynchronous messaging, event-driven, and batch/data-movement integration patterns.
  • Layered API architecture using Experience APIs, Process/Orchestration APIs, and System APIs to reduce point-to-point coupling and isolate backend change.
  • Resilient processing patterns including retries, dead-letter queues, idempotency, duplicate detection, message sessions, sequencing, correlation IDs, replay/reprocessing, and operational error handling.
  • Integration with Microsoft business applications and enterprise platforms, including Dynamics 365 / Dataverse, Finance & Operations, Fabric/Data Factory, SaaS platforms, partner APIs, and custom .NET services.

Security, networking, and governance

  • Secure Azure integration platform design using VNET integration, internal/private APIM patterns, Application Gateway/WAF, private endpoints, private DNS, NSGs, and restricted backend access.
  • Identity and access patterns using Entra ID, OAuth2/JWT, managed identities, app registrations, least-privilege RBAC, and secure system-to-system authentication.
  • Secrets and configuration management using Azure Key Vault, managed identity access, APIM named values, certificates, keys, and governed access controls.
  • Enterprise governance practices including naming conventions, tagging, environment separation, RBAC, branch policies, release approvals, and auditability.

DevOps, IaC, and operational excellence

  • Azure DevOps and GitHub-based CI/CD using YAML pipelines, environment promotion, approvals, branch strategies, and repeatable deployment models across Dev/UAT/Prod.
  • Infrastructure as Code with Bicep and/or Terraform for AIS resources, networking, Key Vault, Service Bus, APIM, Function Apps, Logic Apps, diagnostics, and shared platform components.
  • API Ops / APIM automation patterns for extracting, version-controlling, validating, and promoting API definitions and policies across environments.
  • Observability using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics, APIM diagnostics, distributed tracing, correlation IDs, dashboards, alerts, and support-oriented failure analysis.

Architecture and delivery experience

  • Produces and reviews Integration Design Documents, mapping specifications, sequence/data-flow diagrams, assumptions, constraints, test scenarios, and support handover documentation.
  • Participates in discovery workshops, mapping reviews, architecture reviews, technical design sessions, KT sessions, and client-facing discussions around scope, dependencies, risks, and implementation approach.
  • Works across architects, developers, data engineers, security, networking, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to deliver enterprise-grade integration solutions.
  • Collaborative and agile delivery style; able to translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and supportable technical implementation patterns.

Preferred / desired qualifications

  • Microsoft Azure certification preferred or desired.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without visa transfer requirement.
  • Enterprise consulting, integration modernization, or legacy middleware replacement experience is strongly beneficial.
