Job Title:  Boar Stud Tech   

Reporting to: Farm Manager  

Department/Location of Position: Cameron, OK   

Starting Pay: $20.45 plus depending on experience.   

Purpose & Scope:  This position is responsible for supporting the production of pork on farms owned by JBS Live Pork by utilizing animal science principles to support the objectives of the Boar Stud. The ideal candidate will be trained in roles could include semen collection, administering medications and vaccinations, feeding, cleaning, computer analysis, welding, plumbing, carpentry and maintaining veterinary medical records. This role is directly involved with the planning and implementation of our company’s policies and procedures related to animal welfare and pork/semen production.  

 

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Swine husbandry: feeding/watering/moving
  • Assisting with Boar semen collection process
  • Handling and administering medications and vaccinations
  • Vaccinating and medicating boars.
  • Cleaning and disinfection of facilities, including removal of mortality and waste.
  • Maintaining records of animal production and veterinary products.
  • Animal Identification including administering ear tags
  • Attending Safety training
  • Animal welfare adherence
  • Animal feeding and feeder management
  • Identification and ability to correct basic maintenance needs by utilizing welding, plumbing, electrical and carpentry skills
  • Euthanasia of animals when needed
  • Production/facility housekeeping duties such as cleaning animal housing areas and office/shower/kitchen/lab area  
  • Any other tasks asked by Assistant or Manager

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Be a team oriented, self-motivated and positive individual with strong work ethic
  • Ability to efficiently multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work every other weekend
  • Able to bend, push, grasp, and pull up to 80 lbs.
  • Constant walking – 95% of day
  • Reliable method of transportation
  • Ability to work scheduled hours as business needs arise
  • Able to work early 1st shift hours
  • Excellent attendance is expected to help meet business goals
  • Reliable transportation to and from work

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prior farm experience, ideally swine production
  • Power washing experience
  • Familiarity with Bio-Security

  Working Conditions

  • Exposure to heavy swine animal odors  
  • Pressure washing - water exposure 
  • The candidate should be agile and able to stand and walk approx. 90% of the day.  
  • The candidate should be comfortable working with live animals in a barn environment
