Job description

Veterinary Technician

Cats Limited Veterinary Hospital

Cats Limited is a feline-exclusive, AAHA-accredited hospital in West Hartford, CT, built from the ground up around how cats actually experience veterinary care. Not "mostly cats." Not "cat-friendly certified" as an afterthought. Every protocol, every exam room, every handling technique is designed for cats, by people who genuinely love them.

We're looking for a Veterinary Technician who doesn't just tolerate cats, but who lights up talking about feline behavior, low-stress handling, and the "why" behind the medicine. Someone who wants a career, not just a job and a team and leaders invested in helping you build it.

What you can expect from us:

  • 4-day work week – We work hard to make sure our team has time to recharge
  • Flexible scheduling for the right candidate
  • Highly talented and collaborative team
  • Leaders who actively encourage curiosity and continued learning
  • Calm, quiet, cat-only environment - no barking, no chaos
  • Strong technician utilization - you'll actually use your skills, not just restrain and clean
  • Clients who deeply respect the care and relationships the team builds

What you'll actually be doing:

  • Blood draws, cystocentesis, and ultrasound-guided cystocentesis
  • Diagnostics and patient workflow management
  • Technician appointments and client education
  • Surgery and anesthesia support
  • Feline-specific handling and behavior-based patient care
  • Supporting advanced medicine, including our I-131 (radioactive iodine) program

Our tools and technology: IDEXX ProCyte, Catalyst DX, and Sedivue • Zomedica Truforma feline-specific diagnostics • Ultrasound (including a traveling ultrasonographer for echocardiograms) • Digital radiography and dental radiography • Companion laser • Radioactive iodine (I-131) treatment program • Advanced feline diagnostics and second-opinion consults

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Notice the subtle shifts in feline body language before anyone else does
  • Get genuinely curious about the medicine behind the symptoms
  • Value communication and teamwork as much as technical skill
  • Want to keep growing into a feline medicine specialist, not just stay stagnant

Credentialed technicians preferred; experienced non-credentialed technicians are encouraged to apply.

Compensation: $23–28/hour, based on experience.

Our Comprehensive benefit package includes:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with a total company match up to 4%, after 6 months of employment
  • Generous paid time off and flexible scheduling
  • Continuing education allowance and professional development support
  • Mental Health Resources
  • Company paid bonding leave or applicable state provided bonding leave

Perks for Your Pets Too! Because we know how much your pets mean to you, we offer special benefits designed just for them:

  • Pet Care: Discounts on veterinary services and products
  • Diagnostics: Savings on reference lab testing
  • Nutrition: Discounts on Purina pet foods
  • Insurance: Preferred rates with our pet insurance partner

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) or License (LVT) preferred but not required
  • Prior leadership or management experience required
  • Must have a positive attitude and be a team player
  • Diagnostics (Radiographs, ECG, Blood Pressure, Venipunture)
  • Placing IV Catheters
  • Administering treatments
  • Assisting and monitoring patients during surgery
  • Providing emergency and critical care to patients

Rarebreed Veterinary Partners is a purpose-driven team that places talent first by supporting professionals to thrive in our industry and empowering hospital teams to provide exceptional care for pets and their owners. We pride ourselves on going the extra mile to create exceptional work experiences for our hospital teams. We focus on providing our hospitals with the best culture, tools, and support to allow the staff to focus on what they love most: caring for our animal companions.

Joining our fun and team-first atmosphere comes with a level of support that's hard to find anywhere else. Everything we do is with purpose – down to the way we invest in our people and create long-overdue change in the industry. We're hyper-focused on supporting our professionals, so they can focus on bringing the gold standard of medicine to our patients and their families.

Employment will require the successful completion of references and background check.
