ABOUT THE ROLE
Brooksource, on behalf of Magna Seating, is seeking a Robotics Engineer for a contract-to-hire position in Highland Park, MI. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting automation and robotics initiatives within a high-volume manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for designing, integrating, and optimizing robotic systems to enhance production efficiency, safety, and quality. This position requires hands-on expertise with industrial robotics, a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams, and a passion for continuous improvement and new equipment installations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced setting and is committed to driving innovation in manufacturing automation.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Design, program, and troubleshoot industrial robots, cobots, and automated tooling
  • Lead and support integration of new robotic cells, conveyors, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), and machine vision systems
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for automation-related downtime
  • Partner with Plant Engineering and Operations teams to improve cycle time, throughput, and product quality
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including robot programs, schematics, preventive maintenance (PM) plans, and standards
  • Train maintenance and production teams on robot operation, troubleshooting, and safety procedures
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Safety teams on automation upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure systems comply with OSHA, MIOSHA, and internal safety standards
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or 5+ years of related professional experience
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with industrial robotics (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Universal Robots)
  • Strong experience with robot programming, troubleshooting, and system integration
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, sensors, and industrial automation controls
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Experience using CAD software
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience with machine vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence)
  • Nice to Have: Exposure to Industry 4.0, smart factory initiatives, or manufacturing data collection
  • Nice to Have: Experience supporting new equipment launches or automation retrofits
  • Nice to Have: Automotive or high-volume manufacturing experience
