Huber Cabinet Works is seeking a Microvellum Programmer & CAD Engineer to join our team.
We are a custom architectural millwork company based in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago, specializing in high-end commercial interiors.
We are looking for a skilled, detail-oriented professional whose primary strength is Microvellum programming, while also possessing the ability to contribute within our CAD engineering department on fabrication drawings and production support.
About the Role
Our CAD engineering team manages submittal and fabrication shop drawings from start to finish. This role is centered around Microvellum programming, taking fully corrected and approved AutoCAD cabinetry and casework drawings and converting them into CNC-ready programs, parts, assemblies, and nesting layouts for production.
This individual will also work directly alongside our CAD engineering team assisting with submittal and fabrication drawings, incorporating field measurements, addressing architect review comments, and helping prepare projects for production.
We are also actively exploring new ways to expand the use of Microvellum throughout our broader millwork operations and are looking for someone excited to help contribute to that growth.
Key Responsibilities
Microvellum & CNC Programming
- Program approved AutoCAD cabinetry and millwork drawings into Microvellum
- Build parts, assemblies, and nesting layouts for CNC machining
- Interpret detailed shop drawings and translate design intent into machine-ready output
- Optimize sheet usage to minimize waste and maximize CNC efficiency
- Review and refine programs to reduce production issues prior to release to the shop floor
- Coordinate with the shop, CAD engineering team, and Project Managers to align programming with production and field requirements
- Help expand the use of Microvellum into additional custom millwork applications over time
CAD Engineering Responsibilities
- Assist with fabrication drawing production alongside the CAD engineering team during non-programming cycles
- Revise shop drawings per architect comments and incorporate field measurements and site conditions
- Read and interpret architectural floor plans, elevations, and construction details to support accurate fabrication drawings
Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of experience within the architectural millwork industry
- Hands-on Microvellum programming experience including parts, nesting, and CNC output
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for reading, interpreting, and producing millwork shop drawings
- Strong understanding of cabinetry and millwork construction methods and assembly details
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and teams
- Experience with BSolid or other CNC programming platforms preferred
- Interest in expanding Microvellum into broader custom millwork applications preferred
Compensation
Pay range: $70,000 – $110,000 depending on experience
Compensation will be based on experience, skill level, and overall ability to contribute across programming and CAD engineering support.
