Automation Solutions creates innovative custom machine control solutions. Over the past 20+ years, we have provided industrial automation systems, machines, services, and components to machine builders and end users worldwide. We occupy a unique niche as both a Factory Authorized Systems Integrator and an Authorized Distributor for many quality automation lines.
As a family-owned company, we value creative collaboration, embrace our customers' goals as our own, and seek multifaceted people who bring those machines to life.
Key Responsibilities:

Precision Drafting: Create accurate, detailed electrical schematic and layout drawings based on sketches and instructions provided by our engineering team.
Drawing Take-offs and Quoting Support: Translate drawings and 3D models into Bills of Materials supporting our active quoting requirements.
Documentation Continuity: Ensure continuity of design and documentation by capturing as-built changes in both the drawings and BOMs.
Technical Librarian: Manage and maintain the organization of technical documentation to support the team.
Team Collaboration: Maintain a positive attitude while managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines. Industrial Automation Knowledge and Experience
Component Familiarity: Thorough familiarity with industrial control components (PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, Contactors) and terminology.
Standards Proficiency: Fluent in ANSI Y32.2/IEEE and IEC electrical schematic symbols. Applied knowledge of UL508A (Industrial Control Panels) and NFPA 79 (Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery).
● CAD Skills: Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD (AutoCAD or DraftSight), experience with SolidWorks 3D is a bonus.
● Capability Over Credentials: We care about your organizational skills, tech fluency, and tenacity over a piece of paper.
  • No drafting certificate or engineering degree required.

Required Attitude, Traits, and Outlook
Quality Focused: Detail-oriented and dedicated to high-quality output.
Agile Mindset: Comfortable with iterative design cycles and rework as we optimize custom machine solutions.
Continuous Learner: Eager to learn new technology, techniques, and optimize procedures.
Intrinsic Drive: Excellent problem-solving skills and a natural desire to understand "how it works."
● Professionalism: Demonstrate a strong presence, professionalism, and congeniality.
Flexible: Able to work independently or as part of a team, with occasional overtime as needed.
Why You'll Love It:
This position is the ultimate launchpad for a career in industrial hardware engineering. You will see your digital concepts turn into physical reality every single week on our UL 508A panel shop floor.
● Direct Mentorship: You won't just copy lines; you will work hand in hand with our senior engineering team, mastering panel layout geometry, heat dissipation protocols, and advanced industrial control architecture.
● A Clear Career Path: We actively promote from within. This role is deliberately structured to train and advance you directly into a Control Designer or full Systems Integrator role as your autonomy grows.
● Zero Corporate Gatekeeping: We don't care about arbitrary drafting certificates or university degrees. If you have a natural passion for "how things work," possess sharp 2D CAD skills, and want a collaborative team where your work comes to life, you will thrive here.
Compensation, Benefits, & What We Offer

Competitive Compensation: $58,000- 68,000/year (Non-exempt base with clear overtime protection).
Work-Life Autonomy: Flexible core hours with Hybrid / Work-from-Home flexibility once fully onboarded into our workflow.
Earn-As-You-Go PTO: Unlike some jobs where you have to wait a full year for any personal time off, our accrual system allows you to constantly build time off from your very first week on the job, with the unique flexibility to combine up to 50% of your accrued PTO directly with your vacation days.
Paid Vacation Package: Built for long-term growth. You earn two weeks of paid vacation after your first year, increasing to three weeks after five years and four weeks after 10 years. We also support vacation carryover into the first 6 months of the next year.
● Health Insurance: Comprehensive medical and dental benefits with generous employer contributions, available after a standard 60-day introduction period.
Retirement Security: 401(k) retirement savings plan to support your long-term future.
Paid Company Holidays: Fully paid closures for New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve.
● Professional Development: We provide specialized training and development paths to grow your career capital.
● The Small-Team Advantage: No corporate red tape, direct access to leadership, and a culture focused entirely on helping entrepreneurs bring new products to the world and making our team's lives better.
(Please note: This position is local to our facility in Beaverton, Oregon; no relocation benefits are provided.)
