Registered Nurse

Job Description

This position is located at the Loch Raven VA Medical Center - VA Maryland Health Care System. The Registered Nurse (RN) functions interdependently in carrying out the nursing process, nursing orders, policies and procedures as they relate to the residents' plan of care. The nurse demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. The nurse serves as a role model when functioning as team leader or charge nurse under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or designee. The nurse collaborates with other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team in planning, developing and coordinating the care for the residents and their family. The position is accountable to the Nurse Manager. The RN is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to assigned residents and oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the setting. The nurse will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization consultation. Demonstrate leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. Provides peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team. Partners with others to effect change and produce optimal outcomes. Supports colleagues through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Shares educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers. Questions clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care. Participates in activities and strategies to sustain an evidence-based-practice culture. The CLC RN collaborates with the Minimum Data Set (MDS) coordinator to ensure documentation is accurate and reflective of the Resource Utilization Group (RUG) score.
