What is a holistic LPN?

A Holistic LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) combines traditional nursing care with holistic approaches to support patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. They may use complementary therapies such as aromatherapy, massage, or mindfulness alongside conventional treatments. Holistic LPNs often work in wellness centers, integrative medicine clinics, or home healthcare settings. Their goal is to provide patient-centered care that considers the whole person rather than just symptoms.

What are typical daily responsibilities for a holistic LPN?

A Holistic LPN typically performs standard nursing duties such as medication administration, wound care, and vital sign monitoring, while also integrating holistic practices like patient education on nutrition, stress management, and lifestyle modifications. You may collaborate with registered nurses, physicians, and complementary health practitioners to create individualized care plans that address both physical and emotional health. Daily interactions often include offering compassionate support to patients and helping them access holistic resources. This multifaceted approach allows you to play an active role in improving patient outcomes and promoting overall wellness.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the holistic LPN position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Holistic LPN, you need an active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license, a solid foundation in clinical nursing, and familiarity with integrative or holistic health approaches. Experience with electronic health records (EHRs), routine medical equipment, and training or certification in holistic modalities such as aromatherapy or mindfulness practices are often beneficial. Outstanding communication, empathy, and cultural sensitivity help you connect deeply with patients and support whole-person care. These skills enable Holistic LPNs to provide comprehensive support, blending standard nursing practices with holistic therapies to enhance patient well-being.

  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and therapies
  • Prepare treatment rooms and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment
  • Administer medications and injections as permitted by credential and scope
  • Educate patients on treatment instructions, protocols, and follow-up care
  • Document patient information accurately and maintain complete medical records
  • Monitor patients during treatments and report concerns to providers
  • Support clinic flow and collaborate with team members to ensure excellent patient experience
  • Maintain compliance with clinical standards, safety protocols, and regulations

Qualifications

  • Current LPN license in good standing OR CMA certification
  • LPN strongly preferred; experienced CMA candidates encouraged to apply
  • Proficiency in venipuncture required
  • Interest in learning IV therapy and advanced clinical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational ability
  • Excellent communication and patient-care skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Interest or experience in holistic, functional, or integrative care preferred

Why Join Us?

  • Ability to provide patient-focused care without insurance limitations
  • Collaborative team environment integrating multiple disciplines
  • Hands-on training and skill development opportunities
  • Supportive, growth-oriented workplace committed to whole-person care
