Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Loan Servicing HMDA Specialist III is responsible for reviewing application and loan information contained in the Loan Origination System (LOS) to determine HMDA reportability, verify whether the correct action as defined by the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) for all related loans has been taken, and perform reporting on the HMDA Loan Application Registry (LAR) for applicable data points. This position conducts training with the HMDA team for new hires and when needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Maintain a working knowledge of Regulation C - Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) requirements and the bank's lending practices and procedures to perform a thorough and accurate comparative loan analysis.

2. Review loan application data and credit files for accuracy in reporting consistent with the requirements of HMDA.

3. Ensure lenders accurately complete the HMDA Questionnaire within the LOS.

4. Report any issues or concerns regarding non-compliance with HMDA regulatory requirements.

5. Perform periodic HMDA information audits.

6. Collaborate on the update of HMDA policies and procedures.

7. Analyze and interpret loan applications and related documents gathered during the loan underwriting process to decision.

8. Coordinate with various departments to resolve inconsistencies in applications and loan data to recommend warranted changes to ensure efficiency and accuracy in reporting HMDA data.

9. Provide training to the HMDA Specialist I and II team members.

10. Support the Loan Servicing Assistant Manager with researching and answering questions from the team.

11. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. 

12. Completes required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned. 

13. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a four year college degree and/or 6 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
