Job Description: HL7 Data Specialist & ELR Quality Assurance Analyst
Location: Tallahassee, FL - Onsite 5 Days
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced HL7 Data Specialist & ELR Quality Assurance Analyst to manage and oversee the quality assurance and data translation processes for public health data systems. This role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of electronic laboratory reporting (ELR) data from laboratories, resolving issues, and providing technical consultation regarding HL7 standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Data Quality Assurance & Monitoring:
    • Perform daily quality assurance evaluations of ELR data from established laboratories and those entering the ELR process.
    • Monitor and manage the translation process of ELR data, ensuring smooth transitions to production environments.
    • Troubleshoot internal issues or issues with external source partners to resolve data discrepancies.
  2. System Configuration & Onboarding:
    • Configure, validate, and onboard additional hospitals and laboratories for reportable disease testing, collaborating with their technical teams.
    • Make interface changes to accommodate new laboratory tests that need to be reported.
    • Establish connectivity with new hospitals or laboratories by completing setup, reviewing design, conducting testing, and ensuring successful implementation for production use.
  3. Consultation & Collaboration:
    • Provide consultation and guidance to ELR data providers regarding HL7 data submission standards and reporting requirements.
    • Participate in weekly ELR meetings, collaborating with technical teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
  4. Technical Support:
    • Offer off-hours support, including weekends and holidays, to ensure continuous system operation and resolve urgent issues as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Experience:
    • 4 years of experience working with Health Level 7 (HL7) formatted data.
    • 4 years of experience with Microsoft SQL database engine.
    • 3 years of experience in medical systems, business processes in the medical field, laboratory information management systems, electronic health records, and public health surveillance.
    • 4 years of experience using Cloverleaf and Mirth to handle HL7 data translation and manipulation from electronic health records.

Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot issues in data translation and integration.
  • Ability to work directly with technical resources from hospitals and labs to establish and optimize data connectivity.
  • Experience in providing consultation regarding HL7 submission standards and requirements.
