Job description

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases & Geographic Medicine, is seeking applicants for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level and above.

Candidates will be expected to develop an independently funded basic science, translational science, or clinical research program in the field of HIV research. The research program is expected to produce peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts in high impact journals, and the successful candidate is expected to obtain extramural NIH funding support for research, attend and present national and international scientific conferences, and develop an international scientific reputation in the field of infectious diseases and HIV research. The successful candidate is also expected to participate in programmatic research development in the division and on the campus. In addition to their work in the laboratory, this candidate is expected to teach in appropriate courses and provide lectures to enhance the experience and exposure of learners to infectious diseases. The candidate is expected to apply for a DOCS award upon hire.

Applicants must have M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree, or equivalent, from an approved LCME medical school, graduate school, and have satisfactorily completed post-doctoral research training.
