Job Description:

Hitachi Rail STS USA, Inc., headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, seeks a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer responsible for implementing quality management processes in line with STS strategies and in compliance with GBMS (Global Business Management System) for railway projects involving more than one legal entity or plant.

This position is for a roving employee who will work in unanticipated locations throughout the United States. The employee will have to relocate, but travel is not required from any particular location.

Accountabilities

Specific duties include:

(1) ensure planning and implementation of all approved quality assurance activities required for the assigned project;

(2) ensure all quality assurance activities on the project are executed in alignment with budget targets;

(3) implement the yearly quality audits program (including supplier quality audits);

(4) implement the assigned quality audits as per the defined yearly program;

(5) collect project quality assurance data and perform project quality assurance reporting and data analysis;

(6) execute software quality assurance related activities and software configuration audits; and

(7) support implementation of the company's Customer Satisfaction process

Required Skills/ Knowledge

Must have experience within the railway industry with the following:

(1) performing quality assurance activities and quality assurance oversight in accordance with ISO 9001 and CENELEC standards;

(2) utilizing CMMI model for development, evaluation and benchmark appraisals;

(3) performing yearly Financial-Incentive Audits and assessments of projects;

(4) conducting internal and external quality and process audits as per auditing standards ISO 19011;

(5) developing Software Assurance Quality Plans and conducting software quality assurance audits;

(6) applying organization and process management techniques to quality assurance activities;

(7) identifying, assessing and controlling potential risks that may impact project quality;

(8) supporting supplier qualification and performing supplier monitoring and surveillance activities;

(9) implementing project management of quality assurance activities; and

(10) applying cost estimation techniques to ensure quality assurance activities remain within budget.

ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification required.

Education/Qualifications

Must have:

(1) Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science

plus

(2) Five years of experience leading quality assurance programs for complex signalling and turnkey projects valued over $500M involving signalling systems, vehicles and civil works in or for the railway industry is required.

In accordance with the DOT's FRA and FTA programs, Hitachi's substance screening program tests pre-employment candidates and current employees, as required for safety-sensitive positions.
