Hispanic Federation (HF) is the nation's premier Latino nonprofit membership organization.Founded in 1990, HF supports Hispanic families and strengthens Latino institutions through grantmaking, capacity building, policy, advocacy, and direct services in the areas of education, health, immigration, civic engagement, economicempowermentand the environment. HF has a staff of over 120 at its New York headquarters and field offices in Los Angeles, CA; Hartford, CT; Washington, DC; Orlando, FL; Chicago, IL; Charlotte and Mount Olive, NC; and San Juan, PR. It serves 133 member organizations and a national network of over 700 Latino nonprofits in 42 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia.

Hispanic Federation's Economic Empowerment program focuses on creating a strong foundation to increase the financial health of Latino communities. Through culturally relevant community-focused workshops and events, non-profit capacity building and programmatic grantmaking, the Economic Empowerment program aims to educate individuals and families on financial foundational best practices, create opportunities for economic mobility, and advocate for financial resiliency. Since inception, the program has worked to positively impact communities in New York City and has grown to include communities across the United States and in Puerto Rico.

Who We Seek

Hispanic Federation seeks a motivated Economic Empowerment Program Manager who will be responsible for the operations of HF's Economic Empowerment programmatic and advocacy efforts. Through the manager's oversight, the program aims to increase the financial security of Latino families. The Program Manager reports to HF's Director for Economic Empowerment and works to support and expand the organization's economic empowerment portfolio. The portfolio includes HF's signature financial education series, small business resiliency initiatives, economic mobility campaigns, and advocacy for financial resilience. In addition, the Economic Empowerment Program Manager will support HF's workforce and digital equity initiatives and HF's public policy priorities.

The successful candidate has experience working with communities of color and providing culturally competent educational workshops and community events. The program manager will gain exposure to diverse program areas providing services to the communities that HF serves. This position is also responsible for reporting to the director and internal departments on the program's progress and outcomes.

The position is a hybrid role and will require a minimum of ten (10) days onsite a month.

Reportsย to: Director for Economic Empowerment
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create a calendar of community events and facilitate and oversee community workshops around financial literacy, small business support and other economic empowerment subject matters both in person and virtually.
  • Update and refresh existing material and curricula in a culturally relevant manner that is curated for specific audiences.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and government agencies to promote community education initiatives.
  • Oversee community programs and events in conjunction with HF internal departments and network of member agencies.
  • Track expenses with designated program budgets, ensure reporting for expenses are up-to-date and accurate with all supporting documentation.
  • Collect and manage data for program outcomes and outputs, support in the drafting of narrative for testimony for public policy or with programmatic fundraising efforts.
  • Support in program administration responsibilities, including leading grantee check-ins, reports and document collection and review, contracting and payment requests.
  • Support economic empowerment initiatives across HF's offices, including working closely with workforce development and digital skilling programs, as well as health, education and community engagement to enact a holistic economic mobility framework.
  • Assist with other Hispanic Federation projects and initiatives as requested.ย 
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum of a BA/BS degree and demonstrated interest in community and economic empowerment work to uplift underserved low-income communities, preferably through financial literacy, small business revitalization, asset building, and/or anti-poverty program management.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in non-profit program management, community outreach and/or advocacy work.
  • Strong ability to monitor work plans, track expenses, adhere to deadlines, perform tasks for multiple projects and duties simultaneously, and prioritize assignments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and other relevant software for financial tracking, reporting, and data management.
  • Ideal applicants will be efficient, results-oriented with high energy and exhibit an exceptional ability to work with others.
  • Self-starter with ability to adapt to evolving situations.
  • Strong commitment to Hispanic Federation's mission and core values.
  • Excellent, well-developed verbal and writing skills are essential.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to travel locally.

Compensation and Benefits:

The position's annual salary starts at $60,000-$70,000, and the salary is commensurate with experience. Compensation comes with a robust benefits package with fully subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance available upon first day of employment, 403(B) retirement plans with a company match after 6 months, and access to flexible spending and pre-tax commuter benefits.

First year employees of the Hispanic Federation receive a PTO package withย 15 daysย designatedย for vacation, 4 Personal Days, and 8 Sick Days annually.ย
