Hispanic Federation (HF) is the nation's premier Latino nonprofit membership organization. Founded in 1990, HF supports Hispanic families and strengthens Latino institutions through grant making and direct services in the areas of education, health, immigration, civic engagement, economic empowerment, and the environment. Who We Seek

Hispanic Federation seeks a Government Operations Director to support programmatic work within communities in New York State and support communications with elected officials and administrative leads for the organization.ย ย The Director serves as the representative for both community and government outreach and is critical to success in both diverse spaces. The position marries programmatic support through service coordination in partnership with network members and district leads and managing government relations and engagement. The position requires a strong attention to detail, experience in government relations, and an alignment to the mission and values of Hispanic Federation.

A successful candidate will have the acumen to manage relationships and represent Hispanic Federation well, an understanding of community needs, and strong program management. The position is hybrid and will require both days in the office and days onsite in third party community spaces.

Reports to: Senior Vice President for Policy and Communications

Location: New York, NY

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate key relationships and partnerships with community leaders,ย community-based organizations,ย and their respective governmentย representativesย in Hispanic Federation'sย network.ย ย 

  • Represent Hispanic Federation at public policy events, legislative visits, hearings, briefings,ย communityย and networking events when needed.ย ย 

  • Coordinate government engagement strategies in alignment with Hispanic Federations policy priorities.ย ย 

  • Provide data and analysis to policy team onย community engagementย relatedย issuesย in collaboration with programmatic work.ย ย 

  • Assist HF's advocacy efforts, manage reporting for lobbying in conjunction with compliance protocolsย and tracking.ย 

  • Supportย Hispanic Federation'sย policy teamย withย outreach campaignsย to bothย community-basedย organizations and government officials.ย 

  • Developย and manageย tracking systems and metrics for HF policy and advocacy efforts, prepare reports onย successesย as necessary.ย ย ย 

  • Managingย initiatives involvingย elected officials, ensuringย the high-quality and success of Hispanic Federation's community engagement programs.ย 

  • When managing anย initiative,ย implementย HF subgrant agreementย planningย processes, outlineย deliverablesย andย secureย approvalsย from senior leadership for all agreementsย to launch grant processes.ย 

  • Manage contracting, consulting agreements, MOUs, etc as it relates to community engagement and shepherd all processes following initial conversations to its end (ex. check request for final payment based on deliverables and manage payment schedule) in states where HF has no state office present.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of aย bachelor'sย degree andย demonstratedย interest in not-for-profitย or program administration, and advanced degree with a focus on public administration, public policy, or research is an asset.ย 

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in fast paced offices and with community outreach required, experience working with government offices and elected officials is strongly preferred.ย 

  • Experienceย inย leadingย large-scaleย projects, managing budgets, and providing guidance in program and event management.ย 

  • History of successย with creativeย and critical thinking while managing multiple priorities and programs.ย 

  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving situations.ย 

  • Strong acumen and presence,ย comfort and experience leading staffย areย required.ย 

  • Understanding of issues affectingย underrepresented communities, including theย Latino Community. Aย commitment to Hispanic Federation's missionย and core valuesย isย required.ย 

  • Highly organized with great attention to detail.ย 

  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers, a team player able to support as needed.ย 

  • Strong Spanish language skills are an asset in this position but notย required.ย 

  • Able to work in a fast-paced, high-intensity work environment.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000 and isย commensurateย with experience. Compensation includes fully subsidized medical, dental, vision insurance, access to flexible spending for medical and transportation, and a 403 (B) retirement plan with match after 6 months of service.ย
