EMTs play a critical role in the emergency medical services (EMS) system and are often the first healthcare providers to arrive at the scene of an accident or medical emergency.

EMTs often encounter high-stress situations, unpredictable schedules, and physically demanding tasks. New hires can prepare by developing strong communication skills, maintaining physical fitness, and learning effective stress management techniques. It’s also helpful to familiarize yourself with protocols, local geography, and the equipment you'll use daily.
