What are Hiller jobs?

A Hiller is typically responsible for operating machinery or using hand tools to mound soil around the base of plants, especially in agricultural settings. This process, known as 'hilling,' helps support plant growth, control weeds, and retain soil moisture. Hillers may work on farms, in greenhouses, or in landscaping, and the position often requires physical stamina and attention to detail. The role may also involve maintaining equipment and ensuring safe working conditions.

What are common physical and environmental challenges faced by Hillers, and how do employers support their well-being?

Hillers often work outdoors on varied terrain, which can expose them to harsh weather, uneven ground, and physically demanding tasks such as digging, carrying, or operating equipment. To support their well-being, employers typically provide safety training, proper gear, rest breaks, and guidelines for lifting or handling materials. Many teams emphasize communication and teamwork to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently, and ongoing training helps Hillers adapt to different site conditions and equipment.
