Job description

Our client, a leading aerospace overhaul and repair organization, is seeking a Repair Engineer / Quality Engineer to support the repair, refurbishment, and quality assurance of large aerospace components and assemblies.

This role is critical in ensuring airworthiness, compliance, and structural integrity of high-value components. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and quality teams to develop repair solutions and maintain the highest aerospace standards.

Key Responsibilities:Engineering & Repair Development
  • Develop and approve repair schemes and technical dispositions for large aerospace components (structures, casings, housings, etc.)
  • Analyze non-conformances and determine root cause and corrective actions
  • Interpret and apply OEM manuals, blueprints, and engineering specifications
  • Support overhaul and repair processes including welding, machining, blending, and coating
Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with FAA, EASA, and internal quality standards
  • Review and approve inspection plans, repair documentation, and certification packages
  • Support audits (internal/external) and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with Quality team on continuous improvement initiatives
Process Improvement
  • Drive improvements in repair methods, turnaround time, and cost efficiency
  • Participate in Lean / Six Sigma initiatives
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with production, inspection, and supply chain teams
  • Provide technical guidance to technicians and inspectors
  • Interface with customers and OEMs on repair approvals and technical queries
Qualifications:Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years in aerospace repair, MRO, or manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with large components / heavy structures preferred
  • Strong background in quality systems and engineering support
  • Knowledge of FAA Part 145, AS9100, or similar standards
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T
  • Familiarity with repair processes (welding, machining, NDT, coatings)
  • Root cause analysis tools (8D, Fishbone, 5 Why, etc.)
Soft Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving mindset
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-precision environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with DER (Designated Engineering Representative) processes
  • Familiarity with engine components, structural repairs, or large assemblies
  • Lean / Six Sigma certification
  • Experience working with OEM repair approvals
