Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Purpose & Position Overview

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to a diverse service population, utilizing the nursing process in alignment with established practices and the values of the organization. The Emergency Department operates around the clock, ensuring that a physician is available at all times. This role is for permanent full-time nurses in the Emergency Room setting.

Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Exhibit the core mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Assess patients requiring emergency care, triaging based on medical history, physical assessment, and chief complaints.
  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care for acutely ill or critically injured patients.
  • Administer prescribed therapeutic measures, including medications, intravenous fluids, blood transfusions, and ongoing treatments.
  • Operate and monitor specialized medical equipment as necessary.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and service providers to ensure optimal patient care and services.
  • Implement patient education plans as directed by a physician.
  • Clean and dress wounds effectively.
  • Demonstrate professionalism while managing multiple urgent tasks simultaneously.
  • Accurately record all care information in the appropriate format on designated forms.
  • Maintain punctuality and regular attendance for assigned shifts.
  • Complete orientation as required by supervisory staff.
  • Respect and adhere to tribal and cultural traditions and practices.
  • Uphold HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.
  • Perform all duties as assigned, including those that may not be explicitly listed but are related.
Required Qualifications/Skills
  • Must possess an associate degree, bachelor's degree, or higher-level qualification from an accredited professional nursing educational program.
  • Successfully passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) and hold a current, active, full, and unrestricted nursing license from a recognized state or territory.
  • A minimum of three years of professional nursing experience is required, with at least one year in an Emergency Room environment preferred.
  • Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP, and CPR are mandatory; willingness to obtain them if not currently held is accepted.
Physical Requirements

The position involves normal to heavy work demands, including the ability to lift 20-50 lbs. Frequent walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods is required, along with manual dexterity for operating various medical equipment and performing nursing tasks.
