With over one million tons of structural steel fabricated in the past two decades, we've earned our reputation as the fabricator of choice for complex bridge and transportation projects across North America.
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor in Lancaster, PA.
The position of Maintenance Supervisor for High Steel Structures LLC directs and leads some combination of maintenance personnel in the ongoing maintenance of all shop equipment. Through the direction of their team members, the Maintenance Supervisor ensures that all equipment is consistently maintained in good working order and that breakdowns are resolved both timely and cost-efficiently, thus ensuring a safe, productive and satisfying work environment.
*** In addition to the supervisory job functions listed below, the Maintenance Supervisor is extended to spend at least 75% of their time on the floor ensuring upkeep of machines and production equipment by scheduling and executing preventative maintenance, etc.
Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Formal supervisory/management training preferred.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of maintenance supervisory experience, in a processing equipment environment, is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated maintenance skills in electrical, mechanical and overhead crane experience is desired.
  • Knowledge of PLC-based controls a plus!
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, or spreadsheet software, SAP and other business software systems is essential.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Coaches and develops HSSL maintenance personnel. Assists, guides, trains or instructs these employees to perform their job duties in a way that meets high standards of performance. This coaching and supervision includes formal and informal performance feedback, evaluations, and corrective actions and disciplinary procedures, when necessary. Gives written and verbal instructions to assigned employees on maintenance procedures and standard practices. Instructs employees to perform special repairs as needed.
  • Analyzes and responds appropriately to all business data, including all relevant maintenance and repair costs. Using these multiple sources of data, makes sound business decisions and helps to manage the operating cost centers of the operation.
  • Ensures that all equipment required by HSSL products and services is in good working order. The HSSL Maintenance Supervisor involves maintenance personnel in continuous improvement activities, problem-solving, safety, and ongoing quality and technical training.
  • Shares responsibility with other members of the supervisory team to ensure appropriate supervisory or leadership coverage for all hours of HSSL operations, including all three shifts, weekends, holidays, when necessary.
  • Observes, enforces, and conveys all company rules as well as Federal, State and local regulations including safety, housekeeping, and quality of work. Responsible for accident investigation and prevention of lost-time injuries.
  • Conducts one-on-ones, monthly team meetings, weekly toolbox talks, and performance evaluations for all assigned employees.
  • Maintains all appropriate records (i.e. OHSA, Fair Labor Standards Act, etc.) and documentation for all assigned employees. Accurately completes all appropriate paperwork and secures appropriate signatures for any changes in the employee's status (i.e. Status Change Forms, Requisitions, etc.).
  • Assists in the interviewing and selection of prospective employees for the Maintenance department.
  • Successfully executes the Continuous Improvement Process.
