About California High Speed Rail- CP1

Extraordinary Projects, Exceptional Performance

The California High-Speed Rail Authority's Construction Package 1 (CP1) is the first significant construction contract executed on the Initial Operating Section of the High-Speed Rail project in California's Central Valley.

The CP1 construction area is a 32-mile stretch between Avenue 19 in Madera County to East American Avenue in Fresno County, including major work elements in downtown Fresno. It includes 12 roadway / railroad grade separations, two mainline viaducts, one tunnel, realignments of existing railroad tracks, utility relocations, roadway relocations, two trench sections, and a major river crossing over the San Joaquin River.

Description

As aField Engineerat TPZP JV, reporting tothe Project Manager,you will have the opportunity to:

  • Review project plans and develops a constructionschedule in coordination with project-wideactivities.

  • Coordinate with subcontractorsonadvanced material acquisitionsandpre-construction deliverables

  • Develops/assist with obtaining quotes and draft contracts to meet project requirements.

  • Prepare constructionworkplan packages and coordinates pre-constructionmeetings while ensuring that all prerequisites to start construction activities are identified and completed.

  • Prepare,updates and distributesworkactivity schedules/updates, and communicates across discipline groups and agencies to ensure proper advance notifications and coordination of start times.

  • Monitorand participatesdailyin field construction process. Provides layout checks and technical reviews of work against requirements. Obtains confirmations from design engineer as needed

  • Assist with subcontractadministrationand permanentmaterialsuppliers throughmonitoringofcorrespondence, submittals, RFI's, and performance records; Maintainsaccuratepayment records.

  • Assistin preparing monthlyreportingfor progress payments, schedule updates, and problem/issuetrackingand resolution. Provides accurate and factual assessments of projectperformance.

  • Participate in change orders and claims management

  • Develop and manages relationshipswithowners, subcontractors, consultantsandfield personnel

  • Maintainsasafe,clean and productive environment throughenforcingprocedures.

  • Maintains project integrityandreputation through compliance with high standards of workplace safety and construction best practices

  • Identifyandresolves changing site conditionsor other impacts duringplanningof the work

  • Coordinate and attends pre-bidand construction meetings

  • Develop quality checks and coordinatepermitsfromappropriate entities

  • Assist in preparingcrossing applications and work plans, assuring quality control, etc. by subcontractor

  • Manage and submits projectclose-outincoordinationwith the client and third parties

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar from an accredited institution

  • 5 or more years of construction experience on Heavy Civil projects

  • Knowledge of constructionsafety and currentfederal& OSHA Requirements.

  • Project controlstechniques(i.e. cost accounting, basic estimating, forecasting, and contracts)

  • A strong workingknowledgeof critical path method,resourceschedulingis preferred.

  • Working knowledgeand experience with MicrosoftOffice

  • Strong organizationaland time management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communicationskills.

  • Good attentionto detail, with the ability to recognizediscrepancies.

  • Strongworkethic - Highly motivatedand willingtodo what it takes to get the job done right.

  • The ability to work independentlyas well as part of a team.

  • Working knowledgeand experience with Primavera P6 preferred.
